The Stadium of Light offers a fabulous array of rooms and suites, many of which are licensed for civil ceremonies and can accommodate various sized wedding parties; from a small, intimate offering for 10 guests to a large reception for up to 1000 guests.

The Beach House.

The Beach House, located just a stone’s throw away from the beautiful Roker Beach with its informal and rustic setting, is a unique wedding and reception venue. Accommodating up to 50 guests and offering the finest locally sourced cuisine, we can assure your day at the beach will be one to remember.

6 Months to Go

• Make key decisions - e.g. type of ceremony, wedding theme, colour scheme.

• Book wedding transport.

• Select a date for your wedding.

• Make a booking at the Stadium of Light, National Glass Centre or The Beach House.

• Order stationery.

• Order the wedding cake.

• Book florist - start thinking about your choice of wedding flowers.

• Organise dress fittings.

• Meet with your dedicated wedding coordinator.

• Choose wedding rings.

• Book the church or registry office and apply for your marriage licence (3 months notice is required).

• Book make-up artist.

• Start a wedding scrapbook - with notes, ideas and pictures.

5 Months to go • Start to compile a wedding gift list.

1 Year to Go

• Start looking for wedding accessories shoes, veil, tiara, jewellery etc.

1 Week to Go

• Decide on a menu.

• Arrange a rehearsal at the church or registry office.

• Send out invitations to all your guests.

• Arrange hen & stag nights.

• Go to hairdresser with head-dress.

• Finalise the honeymoon - get a visa and injections if needed.

• Arrange suit fittings for the groomsmen.

• Advise your wedding coordinator of your final numbers and finalise seating plan.

• Ensure speeches have been written.

• Pack for your honeymoon.

• Provide the photographer with a list of essential shots.

• Start thinking about what vows and readings to have.

• Get a haircut (groom) - This allows for any ‘slightly too short’ cuts to grow out a little before the day.

• Start looking at first dance ideas.

• Write thank you cards for your helpers and wrap any thank you gifts.

• Order favours and table decorations if not making your own.

2 Months to Go • Discuss menu options and final details with your wedding coordinator.

• Update wedding guest List.

• If you’re changing your surname, notify your bank, passport etc.

2 Weeks to Go

The Day Before • Deliver wedding cake, decorations, table plan, place cards, favours and guest book at the venue.

• Give rings to the best man.

• Lay out your wedding outfit, accessories, make-up and perfume so everything is ready for the morning (or pack everything up if you’re getting ready elsewhere).

• Meet with your wedding coordinator to finalise all remaining details.

• Make time to relax.

• Arrange final fitting of wedding dress.

• Don’t forget to set your alarm although you’ll probably wake up early anyway.

• Start wearing your wedding shoes.

• Have trial run with hairdresser and/or make-up artist.

• Buy guest book.

• Have your nails manicured.
