by Barbara LaMonica Frank P. Long Intermediate School will open its doors to faculty, staff and students when the 2017-2018 school year launches in September. That decision was announced by South Country School District officials on Wednesday, August 16, following a marathon public meeting that lasted over three hours which included findings from air quality and water test results and testimony from residents and environmental representatives. The school board made the decision that the school will open to students and staff after Glenn Neuschwender, president of Enviroscience Consultants, Inc. laid out in a final investigation report which encompassed 69 samples – 65 indoor and four outdoor - that, with the exception of two rooms in the building, the school is free of elevated levels of contaminants.
