Big moves for South Shore Press With a successful 33 years as “The People’s Newspaper” covering all of Brookhaven, The South Shore Press is announcing a few big moves. Scheduled to open the doors to our new office on July 24th, 2017, the “Press” will continue to support the local community with our award-winning print publication. In addition, the “Press” will be launcing a newly designed website that will include a Long Island and worldwide distributed digital edition.

WF Scholarship Fund Golf Tournament The 21st annual William Floyd Scholarship Fund Golf Tournament is scheduled for Monday, August 28th at the Bellport Golf Club in Bellport, a wonderful community event that, since its inception, has raised more than $478,000 in scholarships for deserving William Floyd High School seniors. Gully Landing in Miller Place
On Monday, July 10th, 2017, Congressman Lee Zeldin (R, NY-1) visited Gully Landing in Miller Place to announce the completion of a $1.4-million shoreline stabilization and reconstruction project. This project will strengthen local infrastructure, as well as improve water quality in the area, by restoring the drainage facility at Gully Landing that was severely damaged during Super Storm Sandy.

$1.8 million for road resurfacing The Brookhaven Highway Department recently accepted an additional $1.8 million in funding for road resurfacing projects from the New York State Consolidated Local Street and Highway Improvement Program (CHIPS) award received from the PAVE-NY and Extreme Winter Recovery (EWR) programs. The additional funding brings the total CHIPS funding awarded to the Brookhaven Highway Department for its 2017 resurfacing program to $4,878,178. Continued on page 11
