Stine Bidstrup explores different optical phenomena and ideas about past, utopic social and architectural visions through glass sculpture, sculptural installations, and video. The ephemeral nature of transparent materials is used to simultaneously hide and reveal, clarify and distort concerns about the phenomenology of perception, and to create possibilities of seeing and exploring, how vision is intrinsically linked with human bodily understanding of our surroundings. Bidstrup has attended the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Art, School of Design on Bornholm, Denmark, and the Rhode Island School of Design in the United States. Since 2007, she has maintained a studio in Copenhagen, and exhibits her works internationally. She has taught at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Art, University of Wisconsin-Madison, Urban Glass, and Pilchuck Glass School as well as been a visiting artist at a number of institutions worldwide.
