For nearly 50 years, the Musicians from Marlboro touring program has served as an extension of Vermont’s acclaimed Marlboro Music Festival. This year’s tour features alumnus Scott St. John on violin, joined by emerging artists Michelle Ross (violin), Emily Deans (viola), Matthew Zalkind (cello), and Gabriele Carcano (piano).
Distinguished artist and international piano pedagogue John Perry is known for his “illuminating and always engaging performances of an astutely varied program.” (Los Angeles Times )

HarpFest Sunday, November 10, 2013 at 2 pm | MCH In conjunction with the Toronto Harp Society, esteemed harpist Judy Loman curates and performs along with guest harpist Angela Schwarzkopf and other musicians. Their program includes solo works by Glenn Buhr, R. Murray Schafer, Kevin Lau, and the two prize-winning selections from the Society’s 2012 composition competition.

Barry Shiffman & Friends Sunday, January 19, 2014 at 2 pm | MCH Co-founder of the St. Lawrence String Quartet, Associate Dean of The Glenn Gould School, and Director of the Phil & Eli Taylor Performance Academy for Young Artists, renowned violinist Barry Shiffman will lead a program featuring Brahms’s Zwei Gesänge and Schumann’s Piano Quartet.
Martin Beaver Sunday, February 9, 2014 at 2 pm | MCH As first violinist of the acclaimed Tokyo String Quartet and alumnus of the Phil and Eli Taylor Performance Academy for Young Artists, Mr. Beaver returns to Toronto for his first performance in over a decade. In addition to solo works, the concert features an ensemble of Taylor Academy students and faculty in Bach’s Concerto for Two Violins, and Mendelssohn’s Octet in E-flat Major. Martin Beaver’s performance is part of the 2013.14 Ann Vallentyne SOCMI Fund for Excellence residency from the Taylor Academy.

Andrés Díaz & Friends
GGS faculty violinist Atis Bankas hails from Lithuania and has developed a career as a soloist and chamber musician, as well as a member of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. In this concert, he shares the stage with American pianist and pedagogue Robert McDonald, who has performed internationally and as musical partner to Isaac Stern, Midori, and many others. This program features works by Delius, Grieg, Elgar, and Britten.

Mariko Anraku Sunday, April 27, 2014 at 2 pm | MCH Associate Principal Harp of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and GGS alumna Mariko Anraku is hailed as a manifestation of grace and elegance, and has garnered attention as one of the world’s most outstanding harpists. For this recital, she is joined by former teachers, harpist Judy Loman and GGS Dean and pianist James Anagnoson, in a program of solo and chamber works.

Koerner Chair in Cello and Artist-in-Residence at The Glenn Gould School, internationally renowned cellist Andrés Díaz leads a chamber program with fellow faculty members. This performance will include Schnittke’s Sonata for Cello and Piano, Chen Yi’s Sound of the Five for cello and string quartet, and other works.
