PRAYER GUIDE: AR

This year we are focusing on what it means to be ALL IN: ALL FLAME in our hearts, homes, church, and community. This specific guide covers Advent and the specific themes of Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love.

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.”

Isaiah 9:6-7

We also invite you to engage in the Holy Here App to walk and pray. You can download the HOLY HERE app HERE (links are clickable). Lastly, we would love for you to join us in community prayer as a church.

HOPE

“Wonderful Counselor”

There is a word in the Bible that carries a strong and tangible meaning for what hope looks like for us. It is the Hebrew word Tiqvah and it means strong expectation so intense it becomes a lifeline. Think about the rope Rahab placed in her window (Joshua 2) as she waited for the spies to rescue her. That rope became a lifeline to the God of Israel she had heard stories about.

The Lord fulfilled Rahab’s expectant waiting with His deliverance. Jesus fulfilled humanity’s waiting with His arrival, making a way for our deliverance and allowing us to base our hope, not on our opinions, but on his wise, wonderful counsel. As believers we stretch out our cord of hope to His coming again. We agree with Holy Spirit and say, yes, come Lord Jesus, come (Rev. 22:17).

Prayer:Lord, stir hope in our hearts.

This Week’s Verse

We put our hope in the Lord. He is our help and our shield. In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name.
Psalm 33:20-21

All Flame All Flame

Psalm 33:20-21

Prayer movement

Thank the Lord for the HOPE you have in Him.

As you hope in God’s outcome for your requests, also pray that God would anchor your hope to Him.

Prayer:Lord, stir hope in our hearts

Help us to anchor our hope in you Lord, and not just to an outcome. You are our lifeline and even when hope deferred tries to make our hearts sick, we choose to remember that hope in You doesn’t disappoint.

Take time to pray over your heart. If there is an outdoor or indoor space that helps you focus in prayer, download the Holy Here App and prayer walk through that area, agreeing with God for your heart and the hearts of others to be all flame for Him.

PEACE

“Prince of Peace”

When we think about the word peace, many times we picture it as a place or state of being without any strife. Although this is ideal, that is not always the case throughout our lives. And knowing this, that our world would often be full of trouble, Jesus told his disciples that He would give them HIS peace.

Jesus gives us His Shalom peace which represents wholeness and completeness. And even more incredible, Jesus, as our Prince of Peace, says that it will guard our hearts and minds. So although troubles may try to pierce us with lies, God’s peace surrounds us as a shield. Peace in the midst of a storm. Peace that steadies us. Peace that silences every accusing voice.

Prayer:Lord, cover our homes with peace.

This Week’s Verse

And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:7 ESV

Philippians 4:7 ESV

Prayer movement

Thank the Lord for the PEACE that is found in Him.

Where in your life or in the life of your family do you need God to bring His perfect peace?

Prayer:Lord, cover our homes with peace.

Not just my home Lord, please cover all of our homes. Cover and protect the homes in our community, the homes in our country, the homes across the nations of our world. In places of instability, we ask you to bring your Shalom.

Take time to pray over where you dwell. If there is an outdoor or indoor space that helps you focus in prayer, download the Holy Here App and prayer walk through that area, agreeing with God for your heart and the hearts of others to be all flame for Him.

JOY

“Mighty God”

We read in scripture that the Joy of the Lord is our strength (Nehemiah 8:10). In Hebrew this word for JOY found in this verse is chedvah. Sometimes circumstances squeeze out the knowing part, especially when a situation becomes overwhelming. But our joy isn’t attached to our abilities or to an outcome. Our joy is attached to our MIGHTY GOD.

Jesus arrived to earth in a humble form, but this arrival displayed the might of our God. He brought forth our Savior through the womb of a virgin. He proclaimed the good news through the song of angels. He drew worship from wise men who had been studying the stars and times for generations. He gave us a Savior and Deliverer, Immanuel, God with us. That is the foundation of our joy.

Prayer:Lord, cultivate joy in our church.

This Week’s Verse

You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of JOY; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

Psalm 16:11 ESV

You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of JOY; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

Psalm 16:11 ESV

All Flame All Flame Prayer movement

Thank the Lord for the JOY that we experience in His presence.

As the Lord for ways to cultivate joy in your heart, home, and community this week? Pray for those who are sick in heart and body that they would experience the strengthening joy of the Lord.

Prayer:Lord, cultivate joy in our church.

Remind us of your mighty works. Shake off the dust on our testimonies and help us to declare your goodness and faithfulness. Let light and laughter bounce off the walls and overflow into our community.

Take time to pray over your church and campus. If there is an outdoor or indoor space that helps you focus in prayer, download the Holy Here App and prayer walk through that area, agreeing with God for your heart and the hearts of others to be all flame for Him.

Love “Everlasting Father”

We have all had different experiences within our families and with our parents. Some have experienced homes where a mother or father was never present, or left too soon for one reason or another. Some have dwelled in homes with the consistent presence of one or both parents. We may try to compare the ways of God to the actions of an earthly mother or father, but no matter how perfect or not, that parent can’t compare to the everlasting, matchless LOVE of our God.

He is the best Father whose goal from the beginning was to bring us back into relationship with Him. He is our everlasting Father who sent Jesus to make a way for us to find refuge in His embrace. We are fully, forever loved by Him and can love well out of the overflow.

In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us. 1 John 4:10-12 ESV

Prayer movement

Thank the Lord for how He loves us!

In this season, there are many that deal with darkness and heaviness. Ask the Lord to highlight areas of our city to you that need an outpouring of His love.

Prayer:Lord, fill our city with your love.

We know that it is your love that pushes out fear. For those dealing with fear of the future, remind them that you hold it and hold them. As we approach the end of our year, help us to anchor in and overflow with your love into the new..
