133. Softpaste Humidor Depicting Palmer Cox Brownie 7” (18 cm.) Of creamy softpaste, the humidor in the shape of a Brownie head has very large googly down glancing eyes, high slanted brow, triangular ears, cheek mole, wide beaming smile with defined space between the teeth, white collar with pink bow tie. His hair, with well-modeled forelock curl, serves as the removable lid of the jar. Generally excellent. Circa 1895. $300/500

134. Delightful German All-Bisque Figural “Four Brownies Riding Piggy-Back” 6” (15 cm.) An all-bisque pink pig with wonderfully-depicted grimacing expression gives a piggy-back ride to four all-bisque Brownies inspired by the Palmer Cox illustrations and stories. The Indian rides backward, two others cling to each other, and the fourth frantically hangs on to the backside. The googly eyes are well-rendered in each case, yet rather than being amused, they are depicted as frightened while they hang on for dear life. Excellent condition. Germany, circa 1895. $700/900

135. German All-Bisque Figure of Palmer Cox Brownie “Indian Riding a White Horse” 4” (10 cm.) l. Seated upon a white horse with flowing grey mane and tail is the Indian from the Palmer Cox Brownies series, having down-glancing brown googly eyes and yellow painted costume, red feather headdress. Generally excellent, professional restoration to feather is virtually imperceptible. Germany, circa 1895, wonderful detail of the Palmer Cox Brownie figure. $500/700 135.
