TURN OFF THE LIGHTS!

World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) is hoping the world’s humans will get on board again in 2017 to participate in Earth Hour. On March 25 from 8:30 to 9:30, we are encouraged to turn off non-essential lights for one hour as a symbol of our commitment to the planet. In 2016, 178 countries and territories took part in an effort to change climate change. Even the International Space Station got involved! More than 400 iconic landmarks around the world dimmed their lights and millions of average people also did their part. The Peterborough Astronomical Association will celebrate the 9th annual event with a public viewing session at Armour Hill. Beginning at dusk, PAA members will have their telescopes pointed to the heavens to show Jupiter, Mars, star clusters and much more. Put on some warm clothing, grab the kids and head up to the top of the hill on Museum Drive (300 Hunter Street). It’s free and very educational. AGENT For the rest of us, we should turn off as much power as we can to focus our commitment to climate action for the rest of the year.

Club, 282 Lindsay Street South from 6:30 to 9pm. KLAC members include individual artists, arts & cultural organizations, businesses and patrons. There is no cost to attend this event, so come out and see what KLAC is about. Over the past year, KLAC has had several noteworthy accomplishments, including the launch of the Arts & Heritage Trail along with an accompanying geocache trail, working with the Task Force to establish the Economic Development Officer - Arts, Culture & Heritage position, and the presentation of workshops on using Facebook and understanding copyright. KLAC is an incorporated, not-for-profit organization dedicated to serving the arts community in Kawartha Lakes. KLAC’s mission is to help the community discover, appreciate, and enjoy the work of those who create and express culture through the arts.
