sullivan N e u r o ps y c h o l o g i s T Ph.D. ABPP

Dr. Sullivan has been on a mission to improve the quality of life for older adults living with dementia since she began working as a caregiver at the age of 15. After obtaining her Ph.D. at Boston University and finishing her training at Harvard Medical School, she landed here in the Sandhills and launched Pinehurst Neuropsychology Memory Clinic in 2013. Each of her evaluations are driven by the same question: What exactly is going on here and what exactly are we going to do about it? Using in-depth interviews, comprehensive paper-and-pencil testing and review of medical records, Dr. Sullivan and her team identify the most likely causes of cognitive or behavior change. She uses clear, understandable language to explain the complex workings of the brain and the results of the evaluation. Dr. Sullivan is personable and compassionate which makes patients and their families feel at ease. Dr. Sullivan’s evaluations map out a comprehensive plan of care so patients leave with hope of improvement no matter what the diagnosis.

BODE

CHIROPRACTOR

When Dr. Justin Bode is asked what he does as a Chiropractor he explains that he teaches people how to get the maximum out of their health. As a collegiate athlete playing quarterback at Clemson University, Dr. Bode endured many injuries and finally gave chiropractic a try after everything else failed. It changed his life, so he pursued a career as a chiropractor going on to earn a Bachelor’s in Science in Nutrition, a Master’s in Sports Athletic Training and a Doctorate in Chiropractic. Dr. Bode has been practicing in the Sandhills for 19 years. He and his staff put extreme focus on the overall well-being of the nervous system. Since this system controls and coordinates the function of every cell, organ and structure in your body and provides warning signs like back pain, neck pain and headaches when problems exist, he stresses to his patients the importance of chiropractic care to address the real problem. When a patient is under Dr. Bode’s care he communicates that drugs and painkillers are not the answer and instead explains that chiropractic care allows you to have a healthy, adjusted spine which protects your nervous system thereby maintaining and restoring optimal health and performance. Dr. Bode is a past president of the North Carolina Chiropractic Board, was the event Chiropractor for the Pinehurst U.S. Opens and a recipient of the N.C. Chiropractor of the Year Award. He encourages you to discover how Chiropractic can change your life, eliminate your pain, and help maintain optimal health; just like Jordan Speith, Rory McIlrory and Tom Brady did.

WASHINGTON o w ner

Sarah Ellman and Toni Anne Washington were long-time members of Southern Pines CrossFit when they partnered to become the new owners earlier this year. They’ve given the gym a facelift with new paint and flooring, added a children’s area and updated outdoor alley space. They’ve also added CrossFit Linchpin programming (expert workouts designed specifically for SPCF) along with Wodify (a computer based program where individual athletes can track their progress) to enhance each athlete’s performance. Toni Anne is married and has two active teenage children. She is an anesthesiologist when she is not at the gym. Prior to starting CrossFit in 2011, she was a triathlete. Toni Anne loves the physical and mental challenge of CrossFit. She also enjoys watching as CrossFit transforms the people who try it. Sarah, a former pediatric ICU and palliative care nurse, is married with twin 12-year-old boys. Sarah has always been an endurance athlete, swimming or running for miles. This all changed the day she stepped into SPCF. Nowadays she is stronger and faster than ever. What she enjoys most about CrossFit is the competition and camaraderie it provides. The new owners, along with their coaching staff and members, provide a strong sense of community at SPCF. By combining an atmosphere of healthy competition and friendship with quality results, SPCF inspires people to come back for more each and every day. The owners believe that if you are willing to learn some new movements, laugh, get uncomfortable and sweat, then CrossFit is for you regardless of your age or current fitness level.
