MEDIA RELEASE - The County of Brant Community Services team is inviting residents to beat the winter blues and get moving, both indoors and out, this February with our annualWinterActive celebration. “During the winter months, especially February, we are more inclined to stay inside and hibernate,” said County of Brant Mayor David Bailey. “Winter Active encourages residents of all ages to get out into the community and enjoy a number of free and low-cost activities!”

A wide range of free and low-cost activities are available for residents to enjoy including Free Skates for all ages, Child andAdult Dodgeball, Walking on the Turf, Guided

Hikes, Storybook Walks in the Park and so much more!

“Winter Active is a great time for the community to not only get moving but to also try out local programs for free, or for a minimal fee,” said Sarah Dredge, Recreation Services Manager. “Activities are offered throughout Brant and include programs at the County of Brant Public Library and with community partners including the Paris Curling Club and Paris Wado Kai Karate.”

The Community is also invited to join us on Monday, February 19 for free Family Day activities, including free sponsored skates from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm at the Burford Community Centre, the Gaukel Memorial Community Centre and the Brant Sports Complex. Free drop-in Kinderplay will also be taking place at the Syl Apps Community Centre from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm.

“We would like to thank Isaac Rosebrugh, Mortgage Broker and Realtor and Riverside Heating and Air Conditioning for sponsoring this year’s Family Day activities,” said Dredge. “Their generous donation provides the opportunity for everyone to take part in the fun!”

We also encourage residents to join us at our County of Brant Rec Expo on Saturday, February 24 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Brant Sports Complex. This annual event is an opportunity for residents to learn about local recreation and leisure activities directly from those who provide them Last year over 20 sport and recreation groups, organizations and clubs took part.
