YEAR IN REVIEW 2023

**A rather new Canada Day tradition is picking up some steam. Ride with Fire organizers, along with a couple dozen ride participants (above), gathered at the Airport Fire Station in July, to present a $2,000 cheque to the Boots on the Ground organization. The money was raised during the second annual Ride with Fire cycling event that took place on July 1st . It was created by Brant Fire Captain Mark Stouffer in 2022. The century ride (100km) spans all eight County of Brant Fire Stations.

**The Paris FC U16 Boys’ Team (pictured left) travelled to Kingston to participate in the Gaels Cup. The team was undefeated all weekend and won the Cup to claim gold medals.

**Paris’ Zac Dalpe (to the left with his family), NHL player with the Florida Panthers, returns home in honour of a banner raising ceremony dedicated to the local hockey hero. “I grew up seeing names like Syl Apps, Doug Stewart and Tyler Pelton (in the rafters) and I always wanted to have the status they had,” Dalpe told the Paris Independent. Hundreds of fans packed the Brant Sports Complex to celebrate the Paris Native’s NHL career. Continued on page 25
