**The County of Brant Grants Committee took a slightly different approach this year when discussing how to approve and distribute $360,000 in community grant funding. After a bit of discussion, Councillor Brian Coleman made a motion to allocate 50% of the $360,000 in grant funding towards the Brantford General Hospital new build reserve fund. His motion passed. That left $180,000 in community grants to be passed out to applicants whose applications were carefully reviewed and scored based on pre-determined merits set out by County of Brant staff.

**The County of Brant was pleased to announce that the Ontario Small Urban Municipalities Conference hosted from April 26 - 28, 2023 in Brant County was a great success. “The Ontario Small Urban Municipalities Conference welcomed over 170 municipal leaders from across Ontario to examine and address today’s important issues facing small urban municipalities,” said Mayor David Bailey.
**This month marks the 10th anniversary of Canadian Tire Paris’ relocation from downtown Paris to the north end. They marked the milestone with sales of course and lots of customer appreciation giveaways. “I really just want to thank all of our loyal customers, the great staff that we have and I hope the next 10 years is as great as our first 10 years,” said store owner Karel van Tol.
**On May 6, 2023, Canadians celebrated the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III and Her Majesty The Queen Consort. The Paris dam was lit in green in honour of the occasion.
**There was a little bit of Paris, Ontario history at Queen’s Park right this past year. The Paris Museum & Historical Society is one of many museums who were selected to set up a display in Ontario’s Legislative Building showcasing the history of the town and the industry that led to its growth today
**GrandBridge Energy announced that members of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 636, representing 69 GrandBridge Energy employees, voted to accept an Offer of Settlement for a new collective agreement Outside employees were on strike from April 23 to May 12.
**Paris is positively bursting with wonderful artists of all kinds - this has always been case, long may it ring - and it was wonderful to experience and explore a new, unique, arty event happening in town that showcased local artisans and also a neighbourhood of Paris itself: The Inaugural Banfield Art Crawl.
