With a big home game win against Hespeler a couple weeks ago, one can say that the PJHL schedule makers were Grinches by scheduling the last two games before the Christmas break against the first place Woodstock Navy Vets and the second place New Hamburg Firebirds at the Brant Sports complex.

Against Woodstock, the Titans’ chances of making a two game winning streak (sorry it’s bad luck to say streak, but I checked and it’s okay to write it) were low However, to my surprise, the goal light glowed red like Rudolph’s nose with both teams scoring six goals each in regulation time.

So now it’s overtime, with Paris having a man advantage due to a late third period Navy Vet penalty, Thomas Lonsdale takes a pass from Seth Kirou and wins the game in front of over 700 Woodstock fans who all had lumps of coal to take home Christian Campanelli earned the 1st star of the game and the 2nd star to Lonsdale for the overtime winner By now, the word that begins with “ST” and rhymes with reek is now TWO and the Grinch schedulers are chuckling that in spite of the Titans win Friday, there’s no doubt that the boys from New Hamburg will stop this nonsense of Paris winning a number of games in a row The first period the Paris boys were hustling and at the end had a 2-0 lead, with goals from Alex Foster and Cole Main.

The Paris Titans have something to celebrate lately, as they are on a threegame winning streak. Paris beat the first place Woodstock Navy Vets and second placed New Hamburg Spitfire to end the first half of the season.

The second period started with a power play goal by Seth Kirou and later on with another power play goal by Thomas Lonsdale, however those Firebirds scored three making Paris still on top with the score 4-3.

The third period the Titans played like they lost some steam and sure enough New Hamburg ties the game at 4 The Grinches were chuckling, saying that we’ll spoil the Titans’ fun and end that “S” word that starts with ST and rhymes with Reek at 2 during the 7 minutes overtime. Like the spirit of Cindy Lou Who and the speed of Santa’s speeding sleigh, within the first minute of OT, Lonsdale passes to Kirou who flips it Christian Campanelli and the game is won and the “S” word that starts with ST and rhymes with Reek, continues at 3.

The 2023 portion of the schedule is over and there’s no scheduled games are during the holidays. Paris is back at home on Saturday January 13, with the visiting Norwich Merchants at a 7:30 pm puck drop.
