Libraries are famous for being quiet places; however, throughout 2020, Fulton County Public Library in Rochester was even quieter than usual as a result of COVID-19 precautions, with much of its programming made virtual or cancelled indefinitely. gramming is back up and running, offering residents of all ages classes and activities covering a wide variety of subjects, including arts and crafts, computers and technology, legal assistance, games, movies and more, nearly all of it free of charge. “In May we had a couple of inhouse activities,” recalled FCPL Director Andrea Stineback, “and then in June we had the summer reading program. Now we’re keeping up the momentum and continuing to have more programming.” Debbie’s Dandies adult craft

classes is again meeting in-person from 10:15 a.m. to noon in the media commons area the second and third Tuesday of the month, averaging roughly 20 people per session. “Make-and-take” kits will still be available for those uncomfortable with in-person classes, and they can follow along on Instagram and Facebook. As of June, bingo is also back in the adult circulation area from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. the first Thursday of each month. Bingo includes prizes and popcorn, and, as Adult Circula-

tion Manager Rose Krull exclaimed, “Everybody is welcome.” For those not so technologically savvy, FCPL offers “Tech Time with Zak,” from noon to 1 p.m. every Tuesday in the PC office. “He is very good at explaining how things work. The patrons love him,” said Youth Services Librarian Jennie Calvert. Another helpful offering is a pro-bono legal aid clinic from 1-4 p.m. on the third Wednesday of the month.
