If this is the summer that you plan to install a pool for your family to enjoy, make sure you do your homework. A pool is a major investment that requires regular upkeep, but here are six simple steps that can help keep your pool in shape all season long: 1. Know your chemicals and use the proper amounts. 2. Practice quick, daily cleaning to keep the job from getting out of control. 3. Use a pool vacuum to make cleanup easier. 4. “Shock” the pool twice each season. (Shocking refers to adding a high volume of chemicals to combat bacteria.) 5. Check your water levels. 6. Call in the pros for a yearly pool checkup or whenever the job seems too big for you to handle yourself.
