ANDREW BERLIN Andrew Berlin is the former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Chicago-based Berlin Packaging. He led the company for 31 years â&#x20AC;&#x201C; taking it from a small distributor to the largest of its kind in the packaging industry, with offices and plants throughout North America, Europe and Africa. The $2.6 billion company is a global supplier of plastic, glass, and metal containers and closures to dozens of industries. In the world of baseball, Mr. Berlin is a Partner Owner of the Chicago Cubs. He is also the Chairman and Owner of the South Bend Cubs, a minor league affiliate of the Chicago Cubs. Prior to being active in commerce, Mr. Berlin was a lawyer with the law firm, Katten, Muchin and Zavis. Mr. Berlin is also involved in business, community and publicsafety endeavors, including sitting on the Boards of Directors of several companies and charities, appointed to the Illinois State Police Merit Board, a Commissioner of the Public Safety Commission in Glencoe, Illinois and he funded the Institute of National Security and Counterterrorism at Syracuse University where he also sits on the Executive Committee and Board of Trustees at Syracuse University. Mr. Berlin is a graduate of Syracuse University with a B.A. in Political Science and Loyola University of Chicago School of Law with a J.D. degree. Mr. Berlin also studied military history at Boston College and business administration at the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University. LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT & CEO 2020 – Can you vision the future? I know when I was a kid, I thought by now, the world would be dominated with flying cars, computers, and robots would do everything so humans would actually work less. Clearly, I don’t have the power of fortune telling! While technology has become ubiquitous, it hasn’t made us lazy or caused us to work less and it certainly hasn’t solved all the world’s problems. I am more convinced than ever that people make the difference, people are how we will grow, and people will solve the problems of today and tomorrow. In 2019, the chamber and its members worked to take big steps to solve big issues. LaunchPad, our Child Care and Early Learning Coalition, took massive leaps forward in working towards adding more capacity in our community. We worked alongside other partners to produce a framework for creating a healthier community and in 2020, the community should expect to see the results of a study by Gallop that will give us a Wellbeing score. Through that framework, we will use the results to implement plans to improve the wellbeing of members of our community. We know where the growth of our community is coming from and we are working to make sure that we are well positioned to meet the new growth to maximize talent attraction and retention. In 2020, there will be challenges that will test the resolve of our community, that will drive us to make decisions as to who we are and what we see as our future. I implore you to be optimistic, knowing full well that the new challenges and opportunities may seem impossible, but when we fully engage our collective resolve, our tenacity and our dedication, the seemingly impossible will be possible. If past results are an indication of future performance, I firmly believe that this community has the capacity and resources to solve any issues that come our way.

LETTER FROM THE BOARD CHAIR What a privilege it has been serving as the Chair of the 2019 Board of Directors for the Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce! I have enjoyed my tenure and believe that the work we have accomplished has been of great benefit to our members. Through our engagements in the community, we have worked hard to make this the best place in the state to live, work, and play. I am honored to be part of such a great organization that is committed to doing great in our community. In 2019, the Chamber provided leadership and support for events that inform and engage our community. We made sure that every high school junior in Kosciusko County was aware of the jobs in our community by bringing them through a Career Expo and Job Fair. Additionally, we hosted our Legislative Review, known as 3rd House Sessions, to inform our members of the upcoming legislative agenda, worked with the City of Warsaw to showcase the State of the City address, and held monthly Public Policy meetings to discuss bills that would be helpful to our community. The Chamber partnered with the Kosciusko County Community Foundation, United Way and other businesses to support the early learning initiative and a plan for providing early learning access has been developed by LaunchPad. Last year, the Chamber welcomed over 42 new members and held 32 ribbon cuttings. Through the partners that contribute to the goals of our Health and Wellness Committee, we helped over 600 community members participate in a health fair and are planning to carry this event forward in 2020. This committee was also largely responsible for helping Kosciusko be recognized as a Healthy Community by the Wellness Council of Indiana. Our commitment to our community has never been greater as we continue to engage in programs that support our residents and businesses. Lastly, I want to thank all of you for your continued support of the Chamber and our community as a whole. Your support enables the Chamber to fulfill its mission of being a voice for its members to stimulate healthy and diverse business growth in Kosciusko County. It truly is an honor to live and work alongside so many dedicated, driven and caring individuals.

MISSION LaunchPad seeks to strengthen the climate of early learning in Kosciusko County by focusing on the most recent research for children, birth to age five, and meeting the needs of our youngest citizens.

FIRST YEAR ACCOMPLISHMENTS - Formed a Kosciusko County Child Care & Early Learning Coalition, now called LaunchPad on October 1, 2018. - Secured funding for operational expenses for the first year. - Set organizational framework and long-term strategic goals. - Created marketing messaging and built community will. - Provided an Employer of Choice Roundtable for 40 local employers to learn more about assisting their employees with their child care needs. - Set a goal of creating capacity of 500 slots in 5 years.
