All throughout the state of Indiana, you’ll find members of Tri Kappa sorority, a women’s philanthropic organization dedicated to three pillars of service: charity, culture, and education. In fact, there are approximately 8,000 Tri Kappas that make up nearly 250 chapters in the Hoosier state. For years (since 1901, to be exact), Tri Kappa has served organizations like Riley Children’s Hospital and the Hoosier Art Salon and has provided academic and fine arts scholarships.

We got a chance to chat with the president of the Alpha Lambda branch about the latest charitable efforts from the Warsaw chapter.
Tri Kappa Trivia night
How is Tri Kappa involved in the Warsaw community?
We do work within our community that extends pretty far. Through our education work, we provide scholarships for local students, support Boomerang Backpacks (and other similar programs), sponsor an art show for local students, and an honor reception for High School Honor students.
Through our Charity work, we support a ton of [other] local organizations, for example: Fellowship Missions, Baker Youth Club, Salvation Army, KC Riley Kids fund, local food pantries, and so much more.
One of your service pillars is ‘Culture.” How do you support this focus in the community?
Through our Culture work, we support the Wagon Wheel, local music programs through the schools and the community, the Navy Band ,and many other groups. A lot of people have no idea how much work we do for our community, as much of it is behind the scenes!

What are the most recent activities Tri Kappa has been involved with?
We just finished awarding $8,000 in scholarships, wrapped up the Warsaw High School honor reception, and volunteered at the Winona lake Fat & Skinny Festival! We also just hosted a chapter social event at Warsaw Cut Glass. In April, we hosted a social event at the Kosciusko Historical Society Museum—this event was for our active and associate chapters. And, June brings initiation of eight ‘Legacy’ members, who are graduating high school and are daughters of Tri Kappa sisters. Things are busy!!
How many members do you have?
Our local chapter has almost 70 members and we are a strong and busy group of women doing great work for the community!
