What are you currently reading? “Dopesick: Dealers, Doctors, and the Drug Company That Addicted America” by Beth Macy. It’s a fascinating and disturbing account of America’s worst healthcare crisis, the opioid epidemic. Everyone should read this. Also, “Strategic Doing: Ten Skills for Agile Leadership” by Ed Morrison, Scott Hutchison, Elizabeth Nilsen, Janyce Fadden and Nancy Franklin. Since the authors are from Purdue University and offer Strategic Doing workshops, I appreciate the lessons that companies and communities need to harness the power of true collaboration. I just finished reading “Blood Defense” by Marcia Clark. After watching the docudrama about the OJ Simpson trial and learning more about the prosecuting attorney, Marcia Clark, I thought it would be interesting to read one of her fictional legal thrillers. She is a pretty good writer and I look forward to reading another one of her books. In early 2019 I read “Fascism: A Warning” by Madeleine Albright and want to recommend it to EVERYONE. She is not only insightful about our history but forthright about future concerns. I only finish books I enjoy reading. There are so many great books to read and I no longer want to spend my time “laboring through” an author that does not capture my interest. Usually I am reading 2 or 3 genres of books at the same time. I love “brain candy” at night before bed (legal thriller, mystery, sappy love story). In the early morning, I read personal or professional development while drinking coffee.
What’s your favorite book of all time? That is a tough question. One of my favorites is “Man’s Search for Meaning” by Viktor Frankl. I have read it at 3 different times in my life and always gained wisdom from it. I also loved the entire Harry Potter series. I have read them, watched the movies, and the most fun was listening to the audio books. It was great fun to stay in the same hotel where J.K. Rowling stayed when penning her first book in the series. There is a room marked the J.K. Rowling room. a
