FASHION PREVIEW By Lauren Caggiano
This fall, you can have your cake and eat it, too. That’s to say owning styles that are equal parts comfortable and fashionable as you transition from work-from-home attire to more refined looks.
Two local boutique owners preview what’s in store for fall fashion — and how you can recreate those runway looks. According to Sue Johnson, owner of Susan’s Fashions in Fort Wayne, this season represents a turning point. “With the pandemic, people are wanting something to cheer them up and make them feel good again,” she said. “So, as unusual as it may seem, neon colors are popping up in sweaters, shoes, and all sorts of accessories.” She suggests combining these bold colors with classics like black or denim pieces, to make a fun statement that’s not too loud. As far as outerwear goes, Johnson said sweater coats are bigger than ever this year. “From plaids, solids, and animal prints,” she said. “And, whether dressing them up with a pair of leggings or nice pants, or pairing them with jeans, it all works!”
