2025 Parade of Homes Plus Remodelers Showcase
Chairperson
Welcome
I would like to welcome you to the 2025 Parade of Homes Plus Remodelers Showcase, presented by the Builders Association of Elkhart County. Special thanks to our Premier Sponsor, Mid-City Supply, as well as our Gold Sponsors: Big C Lumber, Kendall Lighting Center and LaSalle Bristol Flooring Center.
As Chairperson of the 2025 Parade of Homes Plus Remodelers Showcase, I am excited to present 6 beautiful featured homes — with unique styles, design, craftsmanship and the newest trends in the industry. You can also visit one home under construction, the BAEC office remodel and an innovative tiny home! As a past homeowner in the Parade, I can attest to how helpful it was to tour homes with so many of the latest design elements at the time — including flooring, lighting, windows, doors, landscaping, kitchen and bath designs, unique spaces, and so much more! Working with the builder and member suppliers from start to finish was exciting, as ideas we saw in Parade homes came to life in our own design!
I would like to recognize Team Construction as our Legacy Builder of the Year. Owned by Chris Erb, Team Construction was founded in 1991 and joined the BAEC in 1992. Team has a home and a home under construction in this year’s Parade. Thank you, Chris, for your long commitment to the association and to the building industry in our community.
Special thanks also go to Niki Groves, BAEC Executive Officer and her office manager, Jennifer Meier, and to all the Parade of Homes committee members and those working on all the homes this year. We couldn’t provide such a great community event without each and every one of you!
We appreciate you joining us at the 2025 Parade of Homes Plus Remodelers Showcase. I hope you find designs that inspire you to build the home of your dreams or ideas to remodel your existing home! Visit baec.com for details and directions to each home.
President’s Message
On behalf of the Builders Association of Elkhart County (BAEC) and its members, I would like to welcome you to the 2025 Parade of Homes Plus Remodelers Showcase!
As with any Parade of Homes we have, there are so many people/companies to thank to make all this possible. Starting with the thank you’s, the Parade of Homes would not be possible without all the hard work of this year’s Parade Chairperson Brian Levan of Levan Media and Marketing and all those on the Parade of Homes Committee. And don’t forget Mid-City Supply for being the Premier Sponsor of this year’s Parade of Homes. It goes without saying, a huge thank you to all the builders participating this year. And let’s not forget our very own Niki Groves (Executive Officer) and Jennifer Meier (Office Manager) from the Builders Association of Elkhart County for all the hard work they put into this event to make it successful each year.
Team Construction is this year’s Legacy Builder. Team Construction has been building homes in Elkhart County and surrounding areas since 1991 and has been a member of the Builders Association of Elkhart County since 1992. Thank you, Team Construction, for your years of membership with the BAEC and congratulations on being this year’s Legacy Builder!
Every year the Parade of Homes brings out many people to see what is being showcased by our Builder and Associate Members. From the hard work of our builders to the products being provided by suppliers, the Parade is always something to see each year. We hope you enjoy this year’s Parade of Homes Plus Remodelers Showcase.

BAEC Legacy Builder
Team Construction
By Lauren Zeugner
Legacy builder believes in caring for customers like they are family.
When Chris Erb, general operations manager for Team Construction, was in high school he knew he didn’t want to go to college, but he had no clear idea of what he might want to do after high school. So his senior year of high school he took a building trades class. “It was literally life changing,” he said.
It was life changing because he took the class with the expectation it would keep him out of a class room for half a day, but it did something else, it gave him a clear vision that after high school, he knew he wanted to go into the building industry. So after graduating from Fairfield High School in 1984, he got a job with a commercial contractor based in Goshen. Between 1988-89, in order to diversify his company, his boss asked him to come into the office and start a residential construction side of the business. “So I started to build new homes, “ he said.
By 1990, Erb received an offer from a regional mortgage company which wanted him to be a mortgage originator. Before accepting the job, Erb sought counsel from two local business owners he
considered mentors. Both of them encouraged him instead of taking the mortgage position, to start his own construction company, an idea Erb had considered in the back of his mind.
In 1991, Team Construction was born with Erb and his wife, Jill, working out of their home.
Those early days were often a lot of very long days as Erb was doing the sales, estimating, project managing himself, and Jill was doing the payables and office work, while also looking after small children. “It was pretty hectic at times” said Erb.
“Something I noticed very early in my building career that is way too common in our industry is something I would call three black eyes of the industry,” Erb said. Those black eyes are 1) whatever price the builder gives you, expect it to be $20,000 more; 2) the project deadline will be months late; and 3) once you pay them, they won’t come back to fix anything.
Erb was focused from the beginning on creating systems and processes that avoided the three black eyes he saw being so prevalent in the building industry.
Chris Erb
At Team Erb focused on putting the systems, processes and goals in the forefront of every project. “We have to keep in mind we’re building for people for the first time ever in an industry they know very little about and it’s perhaps the largest and the most important investment in their life,” he said.
In the initial years Team Construction focused on building homes. As the business grew so did Erb’s interest in cultivating a team of owners and employees focused on personal and professional development. Along with Erb the other company owners are Bill Hooley, Todd Meier and Jeremy Tallman.
“We wouldn’t be here as a company without everybody,” Erb said. “Everybody is so important to our past and future success. The other owners and all of our employees have helped to create a culture of flexibility, team work, generosity, personal and professional growth.”
This culture was instrumental in helping Team weather the Recession of 2008. When new home sales plummeted everyone was willing to sacrifice financially as needed, willing to change their roles as needed. This allowed Team to expand the remodeling side of the business and even start a separate property management business in order to keep everyone employed.
“Because of this culture, today Team has four full time people doing remodeling and five full time people doing property management, while Team develops subdivisions and builds new homes.”
Erb hasn’t forgotten how he started on this journey. Team Construction is committed to the next generation of young people entering the construction trade. Erb said it is important to bring young people aboard at Team Construction. “Most of the time the entry level guys don’t stay entry level for very long, which is the goal” he said. “If we can be a catalyst to help someone become the next job foreman, the next trim carpenter or even the next business owner, that is what we want to do.”
Team has prioritized using its resources to give back to the local and global communities. Over the years the company has sponsored and sent employees on seven overseas mission trips. “The first thing that we did was make a written goal of building a home in a foreign country for someone that could not otherwise afford one. The first
project was in Jamaica where we did just that — five guys went and built a home for a single mother of five children.
“After that we helped build an orphanage in Nepal, built a school in Cambodia, built a kitchen and dining area for a girls home in Dominican Republic, built a large multi purpose building for a girls home in Costa Rica, and a few other projects. “We really highly value giving back,” Erb said. “Almost every Team Construction employee has participated on at least one trip.”
The company regularly partners with Habitat for Humanity and Servants At Work, working on new home projects and building handicap ramps.
Team Construction works hard to bring the best value to the customer. That means harmonizing what the customer needs and wants with potential site and budget restrictions, offering the best product choices for both environmental stewardship and affordability.
Team is also committed to making the home building process as engaging and straight forward as possible. Customers can use the Team Construction’s website to pick a subdivision they may want to live in and the specific home site they may want to build on and a floor plan they may want to build.
The computer program gives customers an idea of what potential costs are before they start talking to a Team member. For example, the website allows customers to adjust the floor plan so they have a three car garage or a walk in pantry while showing what the estimated costs of those changes could be. They can even play around choosing the colors for the exterior walls, trim and shingles on the roof.
“I think people want to choose the time that works best for them to research the plan or several plans, to experiment with different color options, features etc. again when it works best for them” Erb said. The website allows customers to also do virtual tours of home plans and even link them to potential lenders. Erb said the whole point of the interactive website is to lessen the stress of the buying process.
“Home is more than shelter,” Erb said. “It’s a place to meet new neighbors and create spaces where life happens.”

Build Your Future
2025 Chairperson
MISSION: To inspire, educate and assist students to desire local career opportunities in emerging construction markets.
VISION: To build an environment where all our trade paths are equivalent to a college degree.
Welcome
We are excited to present a new addition to the Parade of Homes that will highlight our area high school students who are involved in the building and trades programs and younger students we have encountered through our community engagement. The Builders Association of Elkhart County has partnered with Build Your Future of Indiana. The goal is to inspire the future generation to see the career opportunities in the building and trades industry here in Elkhart County. We’re grateful for the chance to highlight students and their work in this way.
I am the chairperson of the Build Your Future committee of Elkhart County and we are a passionate group of individuals who dedicate our time and energy to local students in a variety of ways. We participate in Mock Interview days at our area high schools, Career Fairs, Construction Clubs (5th & 6th graders), Career Quest (7th graders) and last year we had the pleasure of partnering with the Boys & Girls Club of Elkhart County. This partnership has led to ongoing activities in 2025 with the Boys & Girls Clubs and our BAEC members. We have found this to be a beneficial partnership for not just the students at the clubs but for our members as well. The kids are excited and attentive when we come with a project because they know they’ll get small group attention, the opportunity to use tools and they usually leave with something they’ve created.
The Build Your Future program is critical as there is a substantial labor shortage in the construction industry with an estimated need of 439,000 new workers to meet the demand. The shortage is driven by an aging workforce, a decline in vocational training, and outdated perceptions of the construction industry as a career path. These reasons are why we’re so motivated to educate the students and parents in our community about career opportunities in the building and trades industry. We hope you enjoy seeing students from our very own community with projects they’ve created!
