House of Hope graduates four from Life Recovery Program On September 10 at First Presbyterian Church, the House of Hope held its Life Recovery Graduation ceremony. When a man comes into the Life Recovery Program he signs up to spend as long as one year getting his life back on track. It’s not an easy road. He will be up early every morning to worship and meet with God, and then help clean the facility. He will take his turn cooking (or perhaps learning to cook), he will not have a phone initially, or his own TV or a computer. He will start volunteering right away and after 30 days he will be able to go outside of the House of Hope to work or volunteer. Ultimately he will transition into a full time job. But during this time he will also hear about God’s love for him. He will start attending church and reading the Bible. People will come along side of him at the house and at Reformers Unanimous to support healthier choices. By the time a man reaches graduation, he will have the tools it takes to live on his own, with a job and a savings account and a new or renewed relationship with Jesus Christ. We hope you understand how much work it was for these men to get here and how proud we are of their accomplishments. The graduates were Clement M. Shealy, Jeffrey Weatherford, James Scott, and Derek McGrady. The men spoke of how they benefited from the program. McGrady said “[the] two way communication with God has given me peace and joy”. Shealy said “the application of God’s word in my life has led me to spiritual growth”. Weatherford declared “I am now a child of God” and Scott would like to “thank God for the House of Hope because it helped me get my life back”. The House of Hope for Men is located at 1020 Darlington Street, Florence. For more information about the House of Hope for Men call 843-661-5013.
