When Ashley Dawkins first arrived as a student on the campus of the University of South Carolina, her ambition was to enter into the field of law. After taking a course in elementary education, she felt moved to switch her goal. “I reflected on some of my former teachers and realized that I wanted to be that positive support system for children,” said Dawkins who was announced Oct.12 as the 2021-22 Florence 1 Schools Teachers of the Year at a special reception/dinner sponsored by The School Foundation and held at the Florence Country Club. Also recognized were 2021-22 Principal of the Year Sonya Graves of Lucy T. Davis Elementary School and Assistant Principal of the Year Carrie Ann Brigman of North Vista Elementary School. As the Florence One Schools 2021-22 Teacher of the Year, Dawkins was presented a check in the amount of $1,000 from Signature Wealth Strategies. HRSA recognizes HopeHealth HopeHealth has been recognized by the Health Resources and Services Administration “for notable quality improvement achievements in the areas of access, quality, health equity, and health information technology” based on data from the 2020 calendar year. HopeHealth was awarded community health center quality recognition badges in three areas: • Overall clinical quality measure performance. The award is for achieving the best overall clinical quality measure performance among all health centers. • Advancing Health Information Technology for Quality. HopeHealth met all criteria to optimize HIT services that advance telehealth, patient engagement, interoperability, and collection of social determinants of health to increase access to care and advance quality of care. • Patient -Centered Medical Home Recognition. HopeHealth achieved PCMH recognition in one or more delivery sites. PCMH recognition patient treatment is coordinated through a primary care physician to ensure the necessary care is provided when and where needed and in a manner the patient can understand. Community health centers annually report a core set of information, including data on patient characteristics, services provided, clinical processes and health outcomes, patients' use of services, staffing, costs, and revenues as part of a standardized reporting system known as the UDS. 15,000 lbs. of food donated to food bank Walmart, Tyson Foods. Bimbo Bakeries, partner with Feeding America to aid local communities. For the fifth year in a row, Walmart, Bimbo Bakeries USA, and Tyson Foods have joined forces to help end hunger across the United States. The three companies donated 15,000 pounds of food – equating to 12,500 meals – to Harvest Hope Food Bank through a partnership with Feeding America. Food insecurity heightened throughout the pandemic and Feeding America food banks – like Harvest Hope – struggled to keep up with demand. See DONATION,Page 5A
