In Memory of All Fallen Motorcyclists
The 12th annual Run to the Hills Memorial Rally announces upcoming completion of Wayside Monument Emily Mailhot Reporter – Vegreville News Advertiser Motorcycling can be a dangerous sport, and those who have passed since the last gathering were remembered and celebrated at the 12th annual Run to the Hills Memorial Rally in Two Hills this past weekend. Guests were invited to camp out for the whole weekend starting Thursday, or to ride out to partake in Saturday’s activities, which included a Show n Shine, memorial service, poker rally, bike rodeo, and dinner entertainment. “We have an amazing turnout,” said
event organizer Bob Ross, “especially considering how the weather started out on Thursday and Friday as the weekend kicked off… but Saturday turned out to be a beautiful day to hold the rest of our activities, and I think this might be one of our best rallies yet.” Though the monument, funded by grants and donations, was meant to be
put up this summer and unveiled at the rally, after weeks of rain, they were unable to do any of the installation.
“We will plan for an unveiling celebration in the fall sometime, with more information to follow on social media and a press release,” said Ross. “It got to the point where we just had to focus on preparing the rally because nothing was going to be able to get done outside. But now that the rally’s done, we’re going to set a date and get the monument up at Wayside Park for people to visit.” The memorial features the names of fallen riders which were included on a by-donation basis by their loved ones and bold lettering which reads “In Memory of All Fallen Bikers.” The weekend was tied off with a motor-circus, burlesque show, and musical entertainment provided by rock bands Sideshow and Stuck on Eleven.
Though Ross wasn’t sure who came from the furthest away this time around but have had guests from as far as Los Angeles, and Germany at past events. “Amazing support from the motorcycling community, and couldn’t do it without the many volunteers who give
