Centrestage presents: “12 Angry Men

Centrestage Theatre Company in Orewa is in rehearsals for a very powerful play, involving 12 men selected to sit on the jury of a murder trial. The personalities of each juror and their opinions come to the fore, and we see how hard they find it to make their decision of ‘guilty or not guilty’ when they leave the courtroom and retire to the jury room. The play, written by Reginald Rosae, is in the talented hands of Reg Williams, who recently directed Centrestage’s play “The Crucible”

He has cast 12 very strong actors who portray brilliantly their characters, and draw the audience into their challenges. They are: Juror 1, John Bower; Juror 2, Greg Stockwell; Juror 3, Nick Brown; Juror 4, Martin Rhodes; Juror 5, Adam Pomeroy; Juror 6, Scott Williams; Juror 7, Kieran Maskell; Juror 8, David Steadman; Juror 9, Andrew Maher; Juror 10, Scott Hayden; Juror 11, Zac Russell; Juror 12, Liam Fennell – and the Guard is Harry Sanderson.

Adding to this, Centrestage is introducing a new intimate performance area, as the play will be performed in the extension of the theatre, with the audience able to sit up close to the action. This will allow a whole different way to watch the performance as they argue for and against, in order to make a 100% decision.

“12 Angry Men” will open on February 12th at 7:30pm and run through to Saturday 16th, with a matinée on the Saturday at 2pm.

Such decisions, such passion; and the many twists and turns will take you on a journey in the jury room with “12 Angry Men”
