Late summer and early fall are the perfect times for busy moms to start a Botox/Dysport regimen, and I’ll share with you a recommended schedule below as well as some before & after photos of my patients. Both Botox and Dysport work to reduce wrinkles such as frown lines, forehead furrows, and crow’s feet by relaxing the muscles of the face. The result is a smooth, natural appearance instead of feeling like you look tired or angry when your face is at rest. Botox and Dysport are injected in tiny amounts – usually 20 to 60 units in total, and the results typically last 3 – 4 months. After this time, the toxin wears off, the muscles begin to contract, and wrinkles start to reappear. To maintain the effects, I recommend most of my patients stick to a four-month treatment regimen. What can I expect during treatment? During your treatment, we’ll inject a small amount of Kybella in multiple places within the treatment area (for example, beneath your chin or in the fatty area around the armpit). You can expect to feel some needle pricks and discomfort from the injections, but we will apply cooling to the area to minimize any pain you feel. What can I expect after treatment? Since Kybella is a nonsurgical procedure, you should not expect any significant downtime or disruption to your daily routine following treatment. The most common side effects of Kybella include swelling, bruising, pain, numbness, redness, and areas of hardness in the treatment area. This can last for several weeks, but many of our clients find that these side effects are minimal and easily hidden with scarves or makeup. How many treatments of Kybella will I need? The answer to this question depends on the amount of fat you want to remove, your skin’s condition, and your age. Typically, clients need two to six treatment sessions, which will be spaced at least six weeks apart to allow for healing and reduction of swelling and tenderness. You can expect to see reduced fat in the area after the second treatment, but for optimal results, more may be needed.
