“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.”
— Isaiah 43:2 (NIV)
Earlier this Fall, our hearts dropped as we witnessed the devastation caused by Hurricanes Helene and Milton. Entire communities in Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina were uprooted, homes and livelihoods lost, and perhaps most painful of all — sacred spaces of worship had been damaged or destroyed beyond repair. For many, the church is no mere building; it is a refuge, a place of solace, and a citadel of peace in times of despair.
As survivors of Hurricane Beryl, The Lighthouse Church and Ministries (TLHC) knows this pain all too well. We understand the sleepless nights, the uncertainty of rebuilding, and the emotional toll that comes with it. We have walked (and continue to walk) the long, winding road from destruction to restoration, and we stand with every place of worship in prayer, solidarity, and strength.
To the churches that have lost sanctuaries, offices, community halls, and sacred relics — we see you. We know the weight you carry. We understand the exhaustion that comes from balancing faith, leadership, and the demands of reconstruction. It is in these moments of brokenness that God’s light shines brightest through His people. Know that you are not alone.
We also extend our sincerest sympathies to other faith communities whose sacred spaces have been affected by these storms. Whether they be mosques, synagogues,
temples, or other places of worship, we recognize the profound impact that comes with the disruption of spiritual gatherings and communal worship. These sacred spaces serve to heal and unite people, but, when separation and hurt are present, it is difficult to hold on to hope. We encourage our interfaith brothers and sisters, knowing that love and compassion transcends all boundaries, and our shared humanity calls us to uplift one another in times of need.
“Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.”
— Psalm 34:19 (ESV)
How We Can Support One Another Prayer is our first and most powerful response. We invite members of TLHC and people of all faiths and beliefs to join us in heartening every spiritual leader, house of worship, and community affected by these hurricanes. May we all pray and hold space for their strength and resilience as they navigate the path forward.

How TLHC Will Continue to Help
While we are still on our own journey of rebuilding and full restoration, we remain committed to being a conduit of prayer, advocacy, and shared resources as they become available.
The way forward is long, but, just as God sustained TLHC through Hurricane Beryl, we know that He will sustain our fellow interfaith communities through every storm.
“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”
– 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 (NIV)

Dear Friends and Neighbors,
As we bid “Arrivederci!” to an unforgettable year, the editorial team is honored to bring you this special Year in Review issue of LIGHTHOUSE Magazine. Together, we’ve experienced a year that challenged, inspired, and, ultimately, galvanized our Church.
At The Lighthouse Church and Ministries, 2024 has been a testament to the glory that comes from our faithful service to God. None of us leave this year in the same space in which we entered it, and our faith tells us that our walk with Jesus is far from its conclusion. Each milestone that our Church achieved this year serves as a reminder that we are called to shine His light into all corners of our community.
In this issue, you’ll find a reflection on our most impactful moments – stories of revival, innovation, and resilience that underscore the power of collective faith. We highlight the dedication of our staff, volunteers, and members who have given their time, talents, and treasures to advance the Kingdom of Christ.
You will also read about the exciting vision God has placed before us for 2025, including new initiatives, expanded life groups, and greater opportunities to serve our brothers and sisters on local, national, and global scales.
As you turn these pages, we invite you to celebrate all we have accomplished together and anticipate the blessings yet to come. This magazine serves as both a chronicle of – and a testament to – how God moves through His people.
Thank you for your prayers, support, and unwavering commitment to TLHC’s mission. Each of us make this community an actual lighthouse for so many. May this season of reflection and renewal fill your heart with joy, and may the coming year bring abundant blessings to you and your loved ones.
Until we meet again, may God hold you safely in the palm of His hand.

We pulled out all the stops for this year’s LIGHTFEST, proving once again that going back to school can be just as exciting as summer break for students at The Lighthouse Church and Ministries (TLHC). Our second annual LIGHTFEST turned an ordinary Friday evening into an unforgettable celebration for what was initially planned to be nearly 700 students in the Houston area.
This wasn’t your average back-to-school event – it was a full-blown PARTY with bowling, laser tag, arcade games, and endless pizza at Main Event Entertainment Center in Humble. Additionally, barbers from the Dream Chasers Barbershop were on site giving free haircuts, and let’s not forget the highlight of the event: each of the 1,250 K-12 students in attendance walked away with a brand-new backpack stuffed with school supplies for the 20242025 school year.
Led by First Lady Shaunie Henderson, the event was as heartfelt as it was fun.
“So many people are struggling, especially after the storm (Hurricane Beryl). As you can see…people really needed the help,” said First Lady Shaunie Henderson describing the importance of LIGHTFEST to the local community.
Parents shared their appreciation for the event and noted that due to the current state of inflation in the U.S. and the rising costs of products, TLHC stepping in to help them was right on time.
“Every time ... it gets more and more expensive,” one parent said. “The shoes, the clothes, and just the school supplies that we have -- I spend a crazy amount of money. I’m so happy that there are people out there willing to help.”
And it wasn’t just the parents who showed their gratitude. While the kids were there to enjoy and have a last HOO-RAH before the end of summer, they also expressed gratitude for the fun and their new school swag!
Drew Wheeler, and his cousin, Paris, spoke to KHOU 11 and shared that they both received their school essentials thanks to the event. “I needed all of the supplies! A notebook, a binder!” they said with relief.
From the buzz of arcade machines to the cheers of laser tag champions, our students had an exciting evening. Parents were able to fellowship and mingle with each other while their kids were able to play in a safe environment. By the end of the night, everyone left with a little extra excitement for the upcoming school year.
LIGHTFEST wasn’t just a charitable event—it was a reminder of how a village comes together to help raise and support children. Here’s to another amazing year of learning, growing, and, fun along the way!

“Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”
Driven by bold faith and unwavering compassion, Pastor Keion, Lady Shaunie, The Lighthouse Church and Ministries, and the Take Action Foundation set an audacious goal for 2024: To contribute over $50,000 in charitable funds to support and uplift women, children, and the vulnerable in need.
The first pivotal step toward this goal was the launch of a transformative partnership with the Houston Area Women’s Center (HAWC), — a safe haven of hope for survivors of domestic violence and abuse. For more than 48 years, HAWC has been a lifeline for women and children seeking refuge, providing secure housing for up to 120 residents at a time. Beyond shelter, HAWC empowers families through an on-site Houston Independent School District (ISD) school, child care services, and a comprehensive network of wraparound support that promotes safety, education, and continuous empowerment.
“We are aware that we must continue to innovate and improve our services for survivors and keep up with the times,” an HWAC supporter shared.
After being invited to tour the secure HAWC facilities and witnessing the life-changing work being done, Pastor Keion and Lady Shaunie felt an overwhelming sense of responsibility and a divine call to action to step in and provide additional support.
They announced that TLHC would make an immediate contribution of $50,000 to HAWC, but didn’t stop there. Recognizing the power of sustained support, TLHC officially added HAWC to its Benevolence Program, ensuring annual grants to help expand their impact and meet the growing needs of survivors.
“It’s not just about a one-time gift,” shared Pastor Keion Henderson. “It’s about being a consistent source of light and strength for those navigating their darkest moments.”
Through this act of generosity, TLHC is not only strengthening the mission of HAWC but also setting a standard of faith in action. By supporting vital community organizations like HAWC, TLHC is demonstrating that true leadership requires commitment, consistency, and compassion. This pledge is just one part of a larger mission to uplift and empower the most vulnerable members of our community.
With every grant, every partnership, and every step of faith, TLHC is proving that love in action has the power to change lives, break cycles, and inspire hope for generations to come.

In partnership with Target and Starbucks, this year’s Nationwide Elf Christmas Shopping Spree was truly magical!
We owe our heartfelt gratitude to Lady Shaunie, KDZ, our wonderful volunteers, the astounding generosity of TLHC members, and the incredible spirit of LH Nation, all of whom came together to spread joy to hundreds of children. Each child had the chance to select their own Christmas gifts, creating unforgettable memories for families in need. Meanwhile, parents found solace and holiday cheer, reconnecting with friends – both old and new – at Starbucks. The combined impact for the children both in Houston and across the nation through our online campus exceeded $30,000!
The event was a vibrant celebration filled with excitement and holiday spirit (and our elf!), uniting volunteers and
donors to ensure every child could experience the magic of giving and receiving this season. This heartwarming initiative serves as a beautiful reminder of the strength of community and the true essence of Christmas, leaving a lasting impact on every family and child involved.
After achieving such incredible success, we’re thrilled to announce that exciting plans are underway to make next year’s event even bigger and better! Get ready for an unforgettable experience!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! We extend our sincerest thanks to everyone who supported and participated in this event, making this holiday season unforgettable. Your generosity and kindness have truly transformed lives, and together, we will make an even bigger difference next year!
WHEN MAJOR, CATASTROPHIC EVENTS HAPPEN IN OUR LIVES, OUR MEMORIES RECALL THINGS SO VIVIDLY.
We remember the exact time, sights, sounds – even the smells –that we experienced when we received a call, text, or message that instantly changed the trajectory of our lives as we knew it.
In those immediate moments, it feels like the world slows to a stop, leaving us emotionally numb, equilibriums imbalanced, and minds grappling to find anything that will help us regain our footing and find some semblance of comfort, safety, or normalcy. After the first few fleeting seconds, we come to the painful realization that this sudden situation is not fleeting. It is our new reality.
That’s what July 8, 2024, felt like for many who live in the Greater Houston area. On that day, those who love, support, work, and worship at The Lighthouse Church and Ministries saw a catastrophic, devastating weather event that caused permanent, irreparable damage to homes, schools, neighborhoods, and the Church itself.
For quite some time, Tropical Storm Beryl brewed in the Gulf of Mexico but, like true Houstonians, we did not think much of it. Those who live in ‘The Lone Star State’ deal with and move past chaotic weather events more often than we get routine oil changes. So, when the winds began to churn and the rain fell, it seemed like it would be just another day, and just another storm that would breeze through the southeast Texas region, leaving us untouched.
The storm quickly sped inland from off the coast of Matagorda, a small, historic fishing and tourist township in upper Texas, to downtown Houston and surrounding areas. At some point, during 24 hours of rainfall, hundred-mile-per-hour winds, and damaging street debris, Beryl went from a tropical storm to what would become a record-breaking named hurricane. With the highest speeds hitting over 160 MPH, it made its way up towards the Humble area, and in its direct path was our North Campus, a casualty of her rage.
Beryl held back nothing as she caused an unforgiving amount of damage and destruction, ripping directly through the sanctuary, youth ministry, daycare, administrative offices, production room, and more. The loss was breathtaking and heartbreaking, but was not isolated. Our neighbors, community members, and congregants were similarly impacted and had equivalent losses.
By the time Beryl moved through Texas into the Mississippi and Ohio Valleys before heading towards the Northeast and Canada, more than 2.5 million households, shelters, and businesses lost power, water, internet or cellphone service, and fuel. That didn’t stop believers from hearing from the voice of God.
Even as we collectively waited in the sweltering summer heat for utilities to be restored, roads to be cleared, and connections to the world to be re-established, we held tightly to God’s hand and rallied together to reopen the Church.
We know that God’s Church is not assigned to one specific geographical location. The Church is the body of Christ; it lives, moves, and breathes through His believers, which means that wherever two or three are gathered together, God promised to be in the midst.
Some churches and business organizations within a five-mile radius of our North Campus remained untouched or unscathed by Beryl, leaving some to question the validity of what they could clearly see with their eyes. Events like this are without a doubt beyond human comprehension and understanding, which is why they are legally called “Acts of God.”
Though many would suggest that God sent the flood as a warranted measure toward His people, those in a true relationship with Him know that God is Sovereign and that whatever He allows has a divine and intended purpose (Romans 8.28).
As we gripped to our calling to be “a lighthouse in the midst of storm”, Pastor Keion instilled three words over our recovery: resilience, revival, and rejoicing.
In resilience, we banded together and reimagined our worship experience. Quickly, hundreds of people voluntarily joined our Resiliency Group, which was dedicated to offering an immediate helping hand to those within and outside of the
Church in great need. In some cases, volunteers looked past their own lack to support those less fortunate than them. They demonstrated a true heart and love for Christ and His people, and for that, we are eternally grateful.
We were able to feel the spirit of revival as Pastor Keion led the charge in ensuring that we did not forsake the assembly of believers. Through the generosity of Pastors Joel and Victoria Osteen, and the hospitality of their staff, The Lakewood Church graciously opened their doors to our congregation for a monthlong residency, held emotional and spiritual space for us to heal from our tragedy, and encouraged us to look ahead to the triumphant victory God is now revealing to us. During the weekly revival services following the storm, we were able to offer praise and worship, being revived and restored in our faith.
Today, we stand strong in a season of rejoicing. The plans for what the next chapter of The Lighthouse Church will be pale in comparison to what has been. God has shown us that our next will be greater and significantly more advanced than our last.
As we leave 2024 behind, we look ahead toward renovation. It may take some time, and it may cause discomfort, but we trust God. Romans 8:18 reminds us that “the sufferings of the present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that shall be revealed in us through Christ Jesus”.
In 2025, this is what we are choosing to believe.
Proverbs 27:17 says, “Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.”
Did you know that the men of The Lighthouse Church and Ministries have their own Life Group?
In a world that tears down the role of men, brothers, and fathers, The Mountain Men Ministry, was built to uplift, strengthen, and cultivate our gentlemen on their journey to becoming Godly men and disciples of Christ.
Created under the leadership of Pastor Henderson, the guidance of Bishop Roberts, and the direction of Pastor Hammond, this Life Group operates under three distinct pillars:
Ministry: Being Fishers of Men. Discipling and motivating others to know and understand God’s word.
Mentorship: Reaching boys and men of all ages to teach, equip, and build relationships that are centered on knowledge and wisdom.
Managing: Managing ourselves, our family, and our community emotionally, mentally, physically, and spiritually.
MINISTRY
At its core, our Mountain Men Ministry is about being Fishers of Men—actively seeking out opportunities to share the love of Christ and lead others toward a relationship with Him. This first pillar
focuses on discipleship while encouraging our men to not only grow in their understanding of God’s Word but also to cast their nets far and wide in an effort to share their knowledge with others. Through prayer, teaching, and intentional outreach, the men of this ministry are equipped to motivate and inspire their families, communities, and beyond to walk in faith and embrace their God-given purpose.
In 2024, the Mountain Men (MM) hosted its first-ever Men’s Conference! Guest speaker Bishop S.Y. Younger spoke to those online and in person about inspiration, connection, and empowerment. Attendees said that during the conference, they felt an undeniable sense and spirit of brotherhood, where genuine conversations sparked new friendships and fostered an atmosphere of unity that resonated beyond the event itself.
The men were equally inspired by compelling messages from Pastor Keion who shared invaluable insight into leadership, mental strength, and the importance of vulnerability. Additionally, they enjoyed a finance panel that provided practical guidance on budgeting, investment strategies, and life insurance, equipping participants with tools to secure their financial futures. The group was further exposed to focused discussions on men’s health and wellness with specific
attention to the importance of mental, emotional, and physical well-being. Attendees were encouraged to embrace self-care as a vital component of success.
The conference ended with a powerful message outlining “10 Essential Principles for Men,” including living with purpose, excelling in leadership, and making a lasting impact on family and community. This event not only empowered men to elevate their lives but also set off a “Mountain Men Movement” to grow in the year ahead.
The MM also took part in a memorable outing in which they attended the “As a Man Thinketh” conference, billed as a transformative experience designed to “empower men to realign their thoughts and emotions, cultivate personal growth and development, and rediscover their true potential”. From October 17 through October 19, Twenty men were invited by world-renowned leader, Bishop T.D. Jakes, to join in fellowship with hundreds of other like-minded men at The Potter’s House in Dallas, TX, for a journey that promised “inspiration and elevation”.
The Lighthouse Church and Ministries recently launched an exciting new initiative—The 3M Mentoring Program. Operating under the Mountain Men Ministry, this program is designed to be more than just a mentoring experience; it’s a movement to inspire, equip, and transform the lives of young men.
As a new Life Group, the group has already begun making significant advancements by thoughtfully pairing 27 men who have agreed to dedicate time and resources to mentoring, guiding, advising, providing feedback, and supporting 21 high school boys (20 members across the Greater Houston area and one online mentee), serving as their role model, coach, sponsor, advocate, and ally. This group is truly a testimony to TLHC’s heart for service and the power of its community.
The 3M Life Group officially kicked things off with an awesome meet-and-greet featuring mentors, mentees, and their parents. Moving forward, the Mentorship Program will host weekly sessions that will focus on personalized guidance, while fostering deeper connections through discussions, activities, and collaborative learning. Each month, all mentors/mentees will come together and participate in group discussions, activities, and learning sessions.
TLHC family, let’s celebrate this incredible step forward for our Church. This initiative is sure to shape this, the next, and generations of young male leaders to come. With faith, wisdom, and the unwavering support of our community, the 3M Mentoring Program is poised to make an everlasting impact.
The Mountain Men are scaling new heights as they take on the challenge of climbing to the mountaintop while
also lifting and empowering young men to rise and climb right alongside them!
The final pillar, Managing, emphasizes the importance of cultivating balance and discipline in every area of life. It calls for men to align their actions with God’s Word, equipping them to lead by example in their homes, communities, and personal walk with Christ. True leadership starts with self-management.
When a man effectively stewards his time, talents, and treasure, he becomes a living example of the principles of a Kingdom man. This pillar highlights the significance of emotional intelligence, mental clarity, physical health, and spiritual depth in achieving this goal. By mastering these aspects, men can maintain harmony in their responsibilities while reflecting God’s love and grace in all they do.
This Managing pillar teaches that self-discipline is the foundation for serving others. When men prioritize their own growth and stewardship, they are better equipped to strengthen their families, uplift their communities, and ultimately glorify God through faithful and disciplined living.

This year, we marked a monumental milestone –15 incredible years of life-changing ministry!
During the first weekend of October, The Lighthouse Church and Ministries, under the inspired leadership of founding pastor, Keion Henderson, honored this unforgettable anniversary with an overwhelming spirit of gratitude, joy, and renewed purpose.
When the Church first opened its doors, no one could have imagined the heights reached or the countless lives touched. Over the years, we’ve grown from humble beginnings to a global ministry that
continues to transform lives, spread the Gospel, and be a beacon of hope for people everywhere. GOD IS GOOD!
Like a young person celebrating a quinceañera, this 15th anniversary represents a coming-ofage moment for our church family. It’s a time of reflection, growth, and maturity as we boldly step into a new season of excellence, purpose, and Kingdom impact.
With our eyes set on the future, we are ready to rise to even greater heights and walk confidently in our God-given calling.
Our 15th-anniversary celebration was nothing short of spectacular! Over three unforgettable days at our Southeast campus, we gathered as one body to praise, worship, and receive a dynamic word from three world-renowned guest preachers who poured into us with unmatched power and wisdom.
NIGHT 1: We kicked off with a transformative word from Rev. Reginald Sharpe of The Fellowship Church in Chicago, IL. His message challenged us to see beyond our limitations and walk boldly into God’s plan for our lives.
The weekend was punctuated with a profound display of faith — a Mass Baptism where 178 souls publicly declared their love for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It was a breathtaking moment of renewal and rebirth, as individuals of all ages took the next step in their spiritual journey.
Witnessing lives being transformed in real time was a reminder of why we do what we do. It’s not just about looking back on what we’ve accomplished – it’s about continuing the work of the Kingdom and leading souls to Christ.
NIGHT 2: The energy intensified as we welcomed the legendary preacher and teacher, Bishop Noel Jones of The Refuge Church in Gardena, CA. With his trademark fire and fervor, Bishop Jones left the congregation inspired and ready to tackle every challenge with faith.
NIGHT 3: Our celebration reached its peak with the electrifying and spirit-filled word of Dr. E. Dewey Smith of The House of Hope in Atlanta, GA. His powerful message ignited a fresh passion for Kingdom work and left us hungry for what’s next.
As we step forward from this momentous celebration, our 15th anniversary serves more than a moment of reflection - it’s a launchpad for even greater, more significant impact. We are ready to embrace a future filled with refreshed purpose, mature leadership, and an unwavering commitment to transform lives and illuminate the path to Christ.
Here’s to the next 15 years of faith, growth, and excellence! THANK YOU to all who have been a part of this journey. Today, we shine brighter, love deeper, and impact more lives than ever before because of your invaluable contributions. HAPPY 15TH ANNIVERSARY, LIGHTHOUSE!
Life is richer when shared with others, wouldn’t you agree? We do! That’s why we’re excited to introduce TLHC’s Life Groups – a community where you can form meaningful connections and thrive alongside those who share your values and experiences.

IT’S ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO PUT INTO WORDS WHAT TOOK PLACE AT CRY OUT 2024.
This year for the Cry Out Experience, we hosted thousands of believers in the heart of downtown Houston. Attendees from near and far gathered together for an unforgettable weekend to have a moment of release while sharing their faith with likeminded worshippers.
Hosted by Pastor Keion Henderson, our second annual Cry Out Experience was more than just a conference, it was a transformative journey designed to help unleash God-given talents, spiritual gifts, and inherent abilities.
This year’s Cry Out Experience was a testament to the growing impact of God and the Church’s reach, which expands beyond our traditional four walls. In total, we were able to serve 3,117 souls during our three-day conference.
Ahead of the event, Pastor Henderson shared the vision with Houston’s NBC Affiliate, KPRC 2, emphasizing the importance of creating a safe space for people to release their burdens and refocus on their purpose.
“I believe there’s so many people who hold things in, you know? (They think), ‘I’m frustrated, I hold it in. I’m stressed, I hold it in. I need help, I hold it in,’” he said. “You know, closed mouths can’t get fed. So you have to cry it out. And I believe that that’s kind of the thing that we wanted to leave in this city. Just, express yourself. And we believe that when you cry it out, it comes back.”
The event brought together an eclectic mix of powerful voices and performers. Sports legend, motivational speaker, and current college football head coach Deion ‘Prime Time’ Sanders shared his journey of faith, while Media Personality Charlamagne and Social Justice Leader Tamika Mallory offered transformative insights on resilience and purpose within the culture of our community. Houston’s own DJ Kiotti kept the energy high, while Grammy-award winners Fred Hammond and Tye Tribbett led UNFORGETTABLE worship moments with their soul-stirring performances.

LESSONS MOST LEARNED DURING BREAKOUT SESSIONS:
• The enemy wants us to have blinders on because he knows we would take off running if we ever saw freedom.
• A good man leaves an inheritance for his children and his children’s children. We leave an inheritance by creating a legacy through building wealth.
• Strategies for healthy self care.
• In order to heal, we have to reveal.
• How much childhood traumas can keep repeating cycles if we don’t seek professional help to heal.
• I am important and it’s okay to not be okay!
• A spiritual practice is prioritizing your interior life so that your exterior life has fruit
“THE ENTIRE EXPERIENCE WAS NOTHING SHORT OF AMAZING! THE HOLY SPIRIT TOLD ME THAT I WOULD EXPERIENCE MIRACLE SIGNS AND WONDERS. ALREADY PURCHASED MY TICKETS FOR NEXT YEAR.”
“I CAME HOME DIFFERENT AND I KNOW THE FAVOR OF GOD IS ON MY LIFE AND MY KIDS.”
When I think of the Cry Out Experience 2024, I instantly smile and I almost have to laugh, thinking about how much God has brought me from since June 2024.
Earlier this year, as I was working for one of the top news stations in Houston, I was afforded the opportunity to meet with the staff at The Lighthouse Church and interview Pastor Keion Henderson in an effort to spread the word about this amazing event coming to the Houston area.
A few weeks prior to the interview, Chief Communications Officer, Brian Smith reached out to my team and said they had an amazing event planned and wanted to invite our viewers to come out. Instantly, we wanted more details of the story but never imagined we would all become personally invested and involved in the movement.
After our interview, PK invited my family to attend at least one of the services despite us having a jam-packed
itinerary for that week. My mom ended up on a late flight into Houston from Ohio so most of our plans were canceled, causing us to decide to go to the concert on Saturday night.
At the concert, both my mother and myself felt an overwhelming sense of the Holy Spirit and God’s presence flowing through each row. We laughed, we cried. We jumped, we shouted. And by the end of the service, my mother was asking if we could change our Sunday morning plans to attend worship services at Cry Out instead.
The sermon, led by Bishop T.D. Jakes felt like it spoke directly to me and the situations I had been faced with. By the end of the sermon, I was compelled to ask about volunteer opportunities within the Cry Out Experience for the 2025 year. Fast forward, I am now a full-time employee of The Lighthouse Church and providing support to make next year’s Cry Out Experience a success.
- MORIAH A. BALLARD
When Hurricane Beryl struck the Houston area, leaving us with an immense amount of damage, TLHC faced an unforeseen challenge: finding a place to gather for worship.
Amid the destruction, the Church family’s resilient faith remained steadfast, but we still needed a space to come together, pray, and commune with God.
Through the generosity, compassion, and empathy, Pastors Joel and Victoria Osteen, along with the Lakewood Church family, they graciously extended an extraordinary act of kindness by offering their facilities to host The Lighthouse Church’s Sunday evening services for a month-long residency.
This partnership was more than a physical place—it was a held space that provided unity, community, and hope in the midst of hardship.
Both Pastor Keion and Lady Shaunie Henderson shared their gratitude with the Osteens and Lakewood, recognizing that this was a true testament to the power of collaboration within the body of Christ.
“It’s moments like these that remind us of the strength we find in unity,” Pastor Henderson shared. “When one part of the physical body is hurting, the other parts step in to provide healing. It is refreshing and inspiring when those within the body of Christ can offer the same.”
The Sunday evening services held at Lakewood Church quickly turned into a revival series. Members of TLHC who had also endured loss and uncertainty after the storm were able to find solace in the messages of resilience, the warmth of fellowship, and the shared determination to rebuild. Each gathering served as a reminder that faith transcends walls and that the Church is not confined to a building but is alive in the hearts of its people.
The hearts of the Osteens and Lakewood Church left a lasting impression, highlighting the importance of extending a helping hand when it is needed most.
The Lighthouse Church will forever remember this moment of grace as a shining example of love in action.
With sincere gratitude,
Thank You, Lakewood Church!
Each week, Pastor Keion shares The Word of God with viewers for a mid-week lesson we like to call, Take Action. The timely message, which can be found on his Youtube channel @KEIONHENDERSONTV, ranges across various topics that are based on biblical knowledge with the intention to help guide and equip us for challenges we may face in our day-to-day Christian journey.
PK takes this time every Tuesday to have a different, untraditional approach to teaching by leading through conversation and having real-time interaction with viewers who provide feedback and testimonies during the discussion. In 2024, the most viewed Take Action on YouTube entitled 13 Things Mentally Strong People Do had 107K viewers, showing the relevancy of the spoken word as well as how many people are seeking spiritual guidance to aid in their mental well-being.
As we move into the future, Take Action will continue to be more than just a mid-week teaching—it has turned into a movement, inspiring thousands of viewers to actively engage with their faith and prioritize personal growth each day, not just Sunday morning. Whether you’re tuning in for practical lessons or finding guidance for life’s challenges, Tuesdays have become a sacred space for reflection and transformation.
Click the screen below to join us each week as we continue to Take Action together, building stronger relationships with Christ and making a lasting impact on the lives of one another.

This holiday season, The Lighthouse Church and Ministries had the opportunity to partner with NBA champion and Texas native Kendrick Perkins to bring joy and hope to 300 families in need for Thanksgiving. Together, we provided free meal kits, complete with frozen turkeys, canned side dishes, and dessert ingredients, ensuring families across the Greater Houston area could celebrate with a warm, festive meal.
The initiative, led by Perkins and his foundation Nilly, Pastor Henderson, and Lady Henderson respectively, invited families to gather at the North Campus for the meal kit giveaway. The event was filled with gratitude and love as our TLHC volunteers worked to distribute the food to those who expressed a need and applied for assistance.
“The Thanksgiving and Christmas season is a time for the Church to share love and God’s blessings with the community,” said Pastor Henderson. “After the turmoil that our region has experienced over the past several months, Lighthouse remains a beacon of God’s grace for our neighbors.”
Perkins, a proud Texas native, and his family joined in the spirit of giving, highlighting his dedication to uplifting communities in his home state.
This event embodied the mission of TLHC, which is “to serve as a beacon of light and hope through acts of compassion and love” and be an example of God’s grace, power, and might to the community.
Continuing its philanthropic efforts, TLHC partnered with Meals on Wheels, a nationwide network of communitybased, non-profit programs dedicated to providing homebound seniors with support, with an aim to help fight against poverty and food insecurity in Greater Houston and beyond. Together, our organizations delivered hundreds of nutritious meals to families who sought hope and connection amidst trying times.
Over 300 seniors plus 40 other individuals received assistance. Meals on Wheels volunteers and more than 50 TLHC members, volunteers, and staff worked side-by-side to prepare, package, and deliver meals. Additional partners in this initiative included with HAAM (Humble Area Assistance Ministries), Interfaith Ministries of Greater Houston (IMGH), World Harvest Outreach Church, the Mayor of Sunnyside, and the Houston Food Bank.
For the first time, we were able to incorporate our global online ministry, LH Nation into our giving efforts. With their enthusiasm and drive, LH Nation members expanded our efforts and broadened our reach to Takoma Park, Maryland, handing out 150 meals to those in need within their communities.
When asked about the initiative, Pastor Keion Henderson stated “This partnership allows us to work together as the body of Christ during this holiday season when so many are in need. We’re not just meeting physical needs; we’re showing families that they are seen, valued, and loved.”
As the food insecurity gap widens in our underserved communities, initiatives and partnerships like this reflect TLHC’s commitment to showcasing God’s love to communities across the nation – one meal at a time.
Earlier this year, The Lighthouse Church and Ministries (TLHC) embraced new, untraditional ways to support its community. One of these efforts involved a meaningful partnership with Axe Lawn Care Services, a company led by Andres Cabrera, who is not only its business owner but also a Houston Firefighter.
During morning worship on Sunday, April 28, Pastor Keion publicly acknowledged Andres Cabrera’s dedication and the ongoing support Axe Lawn Care Services has provided to TLHC’s multiple properties. Highlighting the value of integrity and excellence in Andres’s work, he stated to thousands in-person and online, “Integrity in your work allows you to provide professional and reliable customer service no matter the environment.”
In response, Mr. Cabrera remarked, “We are all family. We are a community and we just want to help one another.” Inspired by the spirit of giving, Pastor Keion shared that he felt compelled to expand TLHC’s partnership with Axe Lawn Care Services to provide one family with FREE lawn care. He then invited the congregation to identify a family in need of lawn care support, creating an opportunity for TLHC to extend its impact.
One of TLHC’s longtime members and dedicated volunteers, Denita Vidrine, immediately raised her hand and shared that her aging parents, Roosevelt and Zelma Williams, could use help restoring their cherished nature sanctuary. Roosevelt and Zelma, a beloved elderly couple from northeast Houston, were known throughout their community for their kindness and hospitality. Over the years, maintaining their once vibrant garden and nature sanctuary became increasingly difficult due to the physical demands of yard work.
Zelma, an avid and passionate gardener, had found nurturing flowers and watching them attract local wildlife. However, as she and Roosevelt entered their 80s, they faced challenges keeping up with the upkeep of their outdoor space. Their daughter, Denita, said she had been praying for a way to revive her parents’ garden – and God answered her prayers through TLHC and its partnership with Axe Lawn Care Services.
The transformation of the Williams’ home was nothing short of remarkable. With the assistance of Axe Lawn Care Services, the front and back yards were revitalized. Existing landscaping was cleared away to make room for an array of vibrant plants, shrubs, trees, and flowers, breathing new life into the couple’s beloved sanctuary. The renovation not only restored the beauty of their garden but also renewed a sense of peace and pride in their home.
As a gesture of ongoing support, Pastor Keion made a heartfelt commitment to Roosevelt and Zelma – a full year of complimentary lawn care services to ensure they could continue to enjoy their beautiful outdoor retreat without the burden of maintenance. This act of kindness underscored TLHC’s mission to uplift and care for the community, turning faith into action and transforming lives in the process.
Houston-based CBS News affiliate KHOU 11 visited the lovely couple’s home and provided coverage of the initiative. When speaking to journalist, Katiera Winfrey, Ms. Zelma said with great joy, “It’s going to take a whole lotta burden off of me. Not a little bit. A MEGA burden. And I can sit back and watch things grow.” Ms. Zelma said.

NOVEMBER IS TYPICALLY A TIME OF REFLECTION AND GRATITUDE. HERE AT TLHC, IT IS ALSO A TIME OF GREAT CELEBRATION AND APPRECIATION OF OUR INCREDIBLE VOLUNTEERS.
During our 2024 Impact Night, an evening set aside to honor the service of those who go above and beyond to make a difference in the work of the Church and in the lives of our congregants every day, Pastor Keion and Lady Shaunie presented a highly anticipated award to a pair of our TLHC volunteers. These two individuals were given the Volunteer of the Year Award for their dedication, passion, and their lasting impact on The Lighthouse Church community.
“This award is all about recognizing individuals whose dedication, heart, and tireless efforts have truly made a difference,” the evening’s emcee said. “They inspire all of us to GIVE more, DO more, and BE more.”
This year, we were honored to recognize two outstanding VIPs (Very Important Partners): Shoshana Karangiannis (LH Online Campus) and Trenell Clay (Southeast Campus).
Shoshana’s unwavering faithfulness, selfless actions, and infectious energy has touched countless lives, making her not only an invaluable part of our LH Nation but the entire TLHC family as well.
Although Trenell could not attend, we cheered and applauded his contributions in spirit. As leader of our Southeast congregation, Bishop Sieon Roberts, Sr. accepted the award on Trenell’s behalf.
Shoshana and Trenell’s peers thanked them for their dedication and for being “the heart that inspires” all.
These two remarkable individuals remind us all of the power of giving back and the profound impact it makes.

The volunteers at The Lighthouse Church and Ministries are truly second to none!
Nearly every day, our incredible team of volunteers dedicate their time and energy to ensure every visitor and member enjoys excellence from start to finish.
At TLHC, attending church services or participating in one of our events is more than another Sunday routine – it’s an unforgettable, life-changing experience, which islargely thanks to the unbelievable efforts of our corps of volunteers.
That’s why each year, we designate Impact Night to pay tribute to our volunteer partners.
Originating from the vision of Lady Shaunie, Impact Night was a commemoration filled with joy, laughter, and gratitude. The night featured special surprises, a live DJ, an elegant dinner, and thoughtful treats – all designed to give our volunteers a well-deserved break and show them how much they mean to one and all.
TLHC’s Director of Church Management, Brandi Carter said, “Our partners are the lifeblood of our church, driving the success of everything we do—from our dynamic community outreach programs to our Not Your Typical events and weekly worship services across four campuses.
Their dedication and service make a tangible difference, and we invite others to join us in this mission. Whether you’re helping with events or assisting during Sunday services, your time and energy will help us continue to make a lasting impact in our church and community.”

As we close out 2024 and a new year begins, many of us are eager to set resolutions that promise a fresh start and brighter days ahead. But how often do these lofty goals falter by February, leaving us feeling discouraged?
The key to lasting change isn’t in creating perfect plans but in anchoring our intentions to God’s Word.
The Bible offers timeless principles for living a purposeful life, reminding us that true transformation comes from seeking God’s will, walking in faith, and stewarding the gifts He’s entrusted to us.
Whether we’re aiming to grow spiritually, strengthen relationships, or advance in our personal and professional pursuits, setting goals rooted in faith ensures they align with God’s greater plan for our lives.
Our associate pastors have gathered a few thoughts to share practical tips, scriptural insights, and daily reflections to help us avoid the pitfalls of faulty resolutions and embrace goals that honor God and empower us to live intentionally.
Read on for their guidance and enlightened thoughts. Together, let’s commit this year to being guided by faith, trusting that as we plan, God will establish our steps (Proverbs 16:9).
In preparation for the new year, Pastor Demond Hammond encourages readers to set SMART goals, which is an acronym standing for:
SPECIFIC:
Define your goal clearly—know exactly what you’re working toward.
MEASURABLE:
Break it down into measurable steps to track your progress.
ACHIEVABLE:
Set realistic goals that challenge you but are within reach.
RELEVANT:
Ensure your goals align with your values and priorities.
TIME-BOUND:
Establish deadlines to keep yourself accountable and avoid procrastination.
Pastor Hammond understands that achieving one’s pursuits is a journey. He challenges us to remember to give ourselves grace along the way and to celebrate the small wins because each step forward is progress toward a bigger prize.
Psalms 37:23 reminds us, “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way.” As we take each step in the next year, we must trust that God is guiding our paths and cheering for us every step of the way.”
Pastor Hammond encourages us to ”stay focused, stay faithful, and let your journey be one that honors God while leading you closer to your purpose”.
FOR MORE FROM BISHOP ROBERTS, CLICK HERE.
Pastor Keion (PK) has been preparing and equipping the global TLHC community for what lies ahead in 2025 and how we can emerge victorious through weekly Bible study via Take Action Now. Bishop Sieon Roberts, who also teaches for Take Action, affirms that PK’s teachings have provided a clear, prophetic roadmap for the coming year.
Bishop draws our attention to the final Bible studies of the year, in which PK has been addressing pivotal themes, including a powerful message titled, “Oil in the Lamp’. Bishop shares that the message, both timely and transformative, reminds us that as 2024 comes to a close, we face a critical choice: to remain stuck in negativity or to actively prepare for the future.
Bishop further believes that at said crossroads, a shift in mindset is vital because it determines how we (as the body of Christ) navigate challenges as well as how we embrace opportunities.
He goes on to share, “The truth is, we cannot simultaneously look forward with hope and backward with regret. Anticipating pain leaves no room for experiencing joy, just as focusing on what’s lost blinds us to what’s yet to come. Imagine declaring that your month – or even your year – is a failure based on a single setback. By doing so, you effectively decide the story is over before it’s written.”
In 2025, Bishop urges us to consider a different perspective: This is but a light affliction compared to the eternal weight of glory that God is preparing in my life. (2 Corinthians 4:17).
When we shift our focus from despair to faith, it is like putting oil in a lamp –it ensures we have light to see, even in the darkest of times.

A
ERA OF CONNECTIVITY AND CONVENIENCE WITH TLHC IN 2025. WE CAN’T WAIT TO SEE YOU THERE!
Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. – Ephesians 4:11-16
This year, The Lighthouse Church marked yet another pivotal step in the growth and significant advancement of the body of Christ: confirmation of new Ministers and Lead Servants.
Under the leadership of Pastor Keion, Bishop Sieon Roberts, Sr., and Pastor Demond Hammond, 27 individuals underwent months of rigorous training, testing, and classes to prove their readiness to serve in Gospel Ministry. Their efforts culminated in their elevation in God’s Kingdom via ordination.
For many religious and faith-based organizations, ordinations play an important role. Considered a sacramental (or divine) ceremony, the practice officially grants worthy individuals the authority and responsibility to serve the Church.
On Sunday, Sept.15, 2024, Pastor Keion had the distinct privilege of ordaining the newest class of church leaders. They included:
Lead Servants, who were vested with white gloves and white towels symbolizing their servanthood and humility in service to God and the Church.
Licensed Ministers, who were bestowed a white clerical tab inserted into their clerical shirts, providing a visible distinction of a minister who has accepted their call to Gospel Ministry.
Ordained Ministers, who were vested with a full white clerical collar providing a visible distinction of the yoke or a full-circle commitment to God and the Church.
During the special service, each candidate was appointed, anointed, and prayed over before affirming their divine calling. The ceremony marks both a milestone and tribute to God’s work in raising leaders for His Kingdom.
As these new ministers and servants step into their roles at The Lighthouse, we eagerly anticipate the impact they will make, serving with grace, wisdom, and a heart for God.
Kidz Discovery Zone (KDZ) is a standard of hope, growth, and inspiration for the youngest members of TLHC’s congregation. Led by an extraordinary team of dedicated leaders, driven by compassionate volunteers, and supported by a loving community, KDZ is shaping the next generation with values that last a lifetime. Every child who enters its doors is reminded that they are valued, capable, and loved by God.
With Director Tera Johnson and Associate Director Epiphany Darks at the helm, KDZ has flourished into a vibrant, nurturing community where children and youth are encouraged to discover their potential and develop a deep, lasting, personal connection with their faith.
Working hand-in-hand with them is a dynamic corps of volunteers that are nothing short of extraordinary. These selfless individuals pour their time, talent, and love into every child. From Sunday lessons and to organizing holiday celebrations and community service projects, KDZ volunteers are the epitome of Christ’s love in action.
Through collective, steadfast support, Tera, Epiphany, and the KDZ volunteers create an environment where children feel safe and empowered. Whether it’s offering a listening ear, leading small groups, or helping with creative arts projects, these champions of service make an indelible mark on the lives of the children they serve.
Signature Events that Leave an Indelible Mark
KDZ is not just about weekly programs; it’s about creating unforgettable experiences that shape children’s faith and future. Hallmark events like “Get LIFTED” and “Candymania” bring immense joy, learning, and spiritual growth to the hundreds of children and youth who participate. Take a look at this year’s efforts:
KDZ made an open call to all 7th to 12th-grade teens for a night of elevated praise, fun, and fellowship at this year’s LH Teens Get L.I.F.T.E.D Night (Living In Faith To Elevate Daily). The exciting event took place on January 26 at Urban Air in Humble, Texas.
Opened to students aged 13 to 18, the lively evening was designed to enable, inspire, and empower TLHC youth in a safe, faith-filled environment. With food, games, and plenty of engaging activities, teens had the chance to connect with one another and grow spiritually.
Due to its growing success, another unforgettable opportunity to participate in Get L.I.F.T.E.D Night is being planned for 2025. Teens are already anxious to get lifted higher in faith and fellowship!
The Candymania Fall Fest was an over-the-top affair filled with laughter and sweet memories. Thanks to a generous donation of over 40,000 pieces of candy, every attendee on October 19th had ample access to treats, making the festival an unforgettable experience for all. The event’s popularity was evident in the incredible turnout, with 1,486 attendees enjoying the excitement and energy.
Behind the scenes, a dedicated team of approximately 60 volunteers worked tirelessly to ensure smooth operations and create a safe, family-friendly environment. From the contagious smiles of children to the camaraderie of TLHC’s community members, Candymania Fall Fest once again proved the power of unity, generosity, and all-around great fun.
KDZ plays an active role in shaping the future of our children. By making life-changing investments in the dreams and potential of its young scholars, every contribution, large or small, has become a stepping stone toward higher education, skilled jobs, and brighter tomorrows.
To date, the KDZ Scholarship Fund has raised $TBD and granted TBD scholarships to TBD students. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of need or academic excellence. Initiatives like these go beyond material support—they reinforce the message that every child is worthy, seen, and loved.
Parents, too, feel the ripple effect of KDZ’s influence. They view KDZ as a lifeline for their families. At a time when parents must constantly compete for their kids’ attention, KDZ’s holistic approach reinforces children’s confidence and faith, surrounding them with positive influences and wholesome friendships that have grown beyond parents’ expectations. Parents applaud KDZ for not only meeting children’s spiritual needs but nurturing their emotional, social, and academic development as well.
The Kidz Discovery Zone thrives on the generosity of people who believe in its mission to create brighter futures for children.
There are several ways to get involved:
VOLUNTEER YOUR TIME: Join the KDZ volunteer team and make a direct impact on the lives of children.
DONATE RESOURCES: From school supplies to art materials, every contribution matters.
SPONSOR A CHILD’S EXPERIENCE: Help fund a child’s participation in Vacation Bible School, study abroad program, or college by contributing to the KDZ Scholarship Fund.
Here’s how:
MAKE A FINANCIAL GIFT: Every dollar counts. Your contribution directly funds scholarships for students who need it most.
BECOME A RECURRING DONOR: Consider setting up a monthly gift to provide ongoing support to our youth.
CORPORATE SPONSORSHIP: Companies and organizations can sponsor scholarships, leaving a lasting legacy in the lives of our students.

Sustainable Design: Energy-efficient features and environmentally conscious construction methods that will reflect our respect of what God has entrusted us.
Enhanced Accessibility: Facilities designed to be welcoming and inclusive for all, ensuring every member and visitor can fully participate in the worship experience.
This ambitious undertaking underscores our unwavering commitment to “Significant Advancement.” We are investing in the spiritual and physical infrastructure necessary for the next chapter of our ministry, and we do so with confidence and trust in God’s plan for us.
As we embrace “Significant Advancement,” we are called to action in three key areas:
Spiritual Growth: Deepening our faith, strengthening our prayer lives, and thoughtfully discipling others.
Community Engagement: Serving and sharing God’s love through embracement, experience, evangelism, empowerment, and encouragement.
Support and Stewardship: Supporting our rebuilding efforts with continuous prayer, generous giving, and love in action (e.g., volunteering, community outreach, etc.).
We invite you to join us in this journey of ‘Significant Advancement.’ Your partnership with God, Pastor and Lady Henderson, TLHC collectively, and each other can make 2025 a year of unparalleled growth and impact.
Whether through prayer, financial support, or active participation in our rebuilding efforts, your contribution is invaluable. Together, we will rise stronger than ever and flourish as a source of hope and light to the world.
Let’s step boldly into this new chapter, trusting that He who began a good work in us will carry it to completion (Philippians 1:6).
As the world awaited its chance to pop champagne bottles, set off fireworks, and watch the New York City Times Square Ball Drop at the stroke of midnight, others gathered online and in the General Assembly Theater at the George R. Brown Convention Center (GRB), ready to electrify the atmosphere with their excitement, exuberance, and anticipation for the New Year.
Families, friends, and guests of The Lighthouse Church and Ministries (TLHC) came together to bid farewell to 2024 - a year that tested their strength and resolve - and embrace 2025, which promises to be a quantum leap forward from where they all have been.
Ahead of his highly anticipated ‘State of the Church’ address, a yearly tradition where Senior Pastor Keion Henderson reflects on the church’s journey and sets the tone for the upcoming year, he gave those watching the streamed service and those in attendance food for thought, “If 2024 tested us, then 2025 will reveal us. The question is: Who will we be when we show up?” He then challenged all who would hear to reflect on their futures, encouraging
them to rise above the trials of the past to elevate in the coming weeks and months ahead.
The service beautifully interwove themes of resilience and comeback with scripture and song, reminding us all that ‘those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles.’ (Isaiah 40:31 NIV) and that obstacles are no match for a community anchored in unified belief.
With seconds remaining in the preceding year, tears of survival streamed on the faces of those in attendance, while praises of triumph filled every seat at the GRB and in homes around the world as if each person simultaneously exhaled II Corinthians 4:8-9 (NIV): “We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair.”
In a blink of an eye, at the start of the new year, the Body of Christ cheered, “HAPPY NEW YEAR!” and stood united—renewed, ready, and resilient to show up, show out, and significantly advance for God’s glory!
The Lighthouse Church experienced significant challenges in 2024, with Hurricane Beryl being by far the biggest. Our sanctuary collapsed, leaving us with seemingly nowhere to hold our worship services. However, through the kindness of our neighboring church of Lakewood, our volunteers, a resilient community, and above all, God’s strength and grace, we have begun to overcome said challenges and have found a way to worship every Sunday no matter what.
Throughout all our hardships, we must never forget that God is our refuge and strength, and we will always be protected by him if we believe in him and his word. Our faith in Jesus Christ will never waiver in the face of adversity but rather be strengthened in knowing that he is always with us and has a glorious plan for us all, and that of course includes The Lighthouse Church as we move towards 2025, the year of significant advancement!
