REAL WEDDINGS

CEREMONY “We wanted a traditional Christian ceremony that still felt Hawaiian,” Brittney says. She walked down the aisle to an acoustic ukulele cover of a Fleetwood Mac song, and Dustin donned a lei of greenery. The couple cleansed their rings in ocean water as part of a custom called Ho’oponopono. CAKE The gold-leaf-accented naked cake had the island flavors of macadamia nut and lilikoi. EARRINGS A former professional jewelry designer, Brittney made her bridal pearl and 24-karat gold earrings, inspired by her love of the ocean.

T

o signal the start of Brittney Ames (28 and an interior designer) and Dustin Elliott’s (33 and works in private wealth management) intimate waterfront wedding in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, the pastor blew a conch shell in all four directions. With guests donning outfits in shades of white, the couple—framed by a monstera leaf arch—exchanged vows before celebrating with an elegant sushi dinner on the beach. “It’s the most magical place for us—one where we have had once-in-alifetime adventures,” Brittney says of Kona. “We were married with our toes in the sand.” The couple included colors inspired by the islands’ sunsets, a bouquet of roses and orchids, poke appetizers and a night of live Hawaiian music from a local band. —SC
