n behalf of The Junior League of Austin (JLA), I welcome you to the 2018 A Christmas Affair (ACA). This five-day event is JLA’s largest fundraiser and is completely planned and executed by JLA volunteers. Thank you to our 89 volunteers who have spent countless hours making this annual event possible. The funds raised through A Christmas Affair allow The Junior League of Austin to donate hundreds of thousands of dollars each year to the Austin community. Additionally, our members donate their time, contributing over 160,000 volunteer hours each year. ACA helps us achieve our mission of promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women and improving communities through effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. The Junior League supports the Austin community through our signature programs and in partnership with nonprofits throughout the community. Through the JLA’s Coats for Kids (CFK) program we will distribute over 30,000 coats, and with our FIT - Food in Tummies program, we will deliver more than 47,000 backpacks filled with food to elementary schools in Del Valle ISD this year. You can read about how we plan to expand KICS - Kids in Cool Shoes, JLA’s newest signature program on page 46. We also partner with over 30 local nonprofits to provide funds and volunteers in support of their specific missions.

The League has a lot to look forward to in 2019. We will celebrate our 85th anniversary, and we are building our new home – The Community Impact Center, which you can read about on page 43. We hope to see you at Austin Entertains on February 28, our annual foodinspired event where we highlight female chefs in Austin. We’d also love to see you at family favorite Bunny Brunch on April 14.
The League of has a lot to look forward to in 2019.
