RAAB ARRIVES IN ISRAEL FOR TALKS
BY DAVID SAFFER
Foreign Minister Dominic Raab called to end the cycle of violence and make progress towards a lasting peace in Israel yesterday. The one-day visit saw Raab hold talks with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defence Minister Benny Gantz and Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi in Jerusalem. He also met Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh in Ramallah. Raab discussed the “flourishing” UK and Israel relationship,
importance of a durable ceasefire in Gaza and need to fight anti-Semitism with Netanyahu. “The UK is committed to working with regional leaders to end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and forge lasting peace,” Raab tweeted. Raab’s visit followed Netanyahu holding talks with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Jerusalem on Tuesday. Addressing Blinken, Netanyahu thanked US President Joe Biden for “firmly supporting” Israel’s right of self-defence”. Israel’s leader recalled Blinken in 2014 backing Israel’s “Iron
