MYND This unique meditation and nap studio can be found in the middle of bustling Barangaroo in Sydney and offers city workers a balance to their stressful jobs. Founders James Harris and Sam Thornton were two sleep-deprived city workers who quit the corporate life to launch the wellness venture after both experiencing the rewarding benefits of meditation. “People realise that it’s just as important, if not more important, to look after their mental health as well as their physical health,” James says. Clients pay a weekly membership to access unlimited mediation classes or drop in on a payas-you-go basis. MYND studio runs over 20 pre-recorded meditation classes per day rather than focusing on the three peak times. The duo worked with meditation teacher Janelle Pickles, accredited by the Meditation Association of Australia, to curate the program, comprising of seven varied practises designed to be energising, motivating or relaxing depending on the time of the day. MYND Studios is also home to two state-of-the-art NapPods, which guide you into a restful 20-minute nap to recharge your batteries.

Cryospa Cryospa has made a name for itself as a one-stop shop for all your recovery and wellness needs on the lower North Shore offering a wide range of recovery treatments, such as Cryo, infrared sauna, Normatec and Sydney’s only Himalayan Salt room. “For 3 years we have strived to ensure that anyone that walks through our doors to try out our treatments leaves feeling better than they did when they arrived,” says Cryospa Director, Mitchell Diamond. The clinic has seen a surge in people coming regularly to improve their physical and mental wellbeing. I think recovery treatments have been gaining popularity as the benefits of them are becoming more mainstream. With podcasts becoming so popular along with athletes and celebrities utilising them more, it has made people more aware of what treatments are out there and available. I also believe [the pandemic] has made people take their health and immune system more seriously,” he says. Proving this theory is that Cryospa’s clientele morphed from mainly athletes to the majority being busy working mums who are looking for an opportunity to make time for themselves at Cryospa and ‘recover’ from everyday life. The infrared sauna, which includes a TV with all kinds of streaming service apps, is the business’ most popular treatment, “so much so, we recently needed to purchase a second one to keep up with the demand,” says Mitchell.

Slow House What could be deemed Bondi’s most Instagrammable wellness space, Slow House opened its doors in February this year and has welcomed a variety of guests ranging from busy working mums to regular gym-goers and those who just want to make some time for themselves. The all white space (think Santorini meets Byron Bay) is as tranquil as it is inviting, offering generously sized private infrared sauna rooms as well as ice baths and Omnilux sessions. Founder Natasha wanted to create a ‘selfserve’ wellness space that makes it easy for guests to dedicate some time to their health and wellbeing each week. All you need is your swimmers and you’re good to go. After your wellness session, enjoy a cup of tea and browse the curated retail offering including body and face oils, fragrances, and supplements. 40 | SPA+CLINIC
