Today, I want to talk to you about what it means to be a survivor and share some insights that I believe will help you on your journey.

First and foremost, sometimes you have to say "Fuck it". It doesn't mean you are a quitter, or that you are weak. Being a survivor is about cultivating a resilient mindset but you can't do that if you never take a break, take a breath to reflect. Life throws us unexpected challenges, and it's our attitude towards those challenges and the state of our mental health that determines our ability to overcome them. Embrace a positive outlook but watch out for toxic positivity which is a "safe" go to for most humans in times of challenge.

Remember that every setback is an opportunity for growth if you choose to let it. Believe in your capacity to bounce back, and you'll find the strength within you to face the obstacles in front of you.

When someone says, “let it go” or “it’s only temporary”, but you can’t let it go or it doesn’t feel temporary to you then that relationship may not be the best to invest in while you are trying to survive. No one knows your life like you do. If you have been dealt a tragedy or difficult scenario, sometimes the remnants of that stick with us forever and there isn’t an option to “let it go” or wait for a time when our uncomfortable feelings pass. Time doesn’t heal all wounds and your reality may be very different from what people assume it to be. Best thing to do is validate your own feelings, if it’s shitty right now, say it’s shitty right now. Give yourself extra time during the day to process how shitty it is and then give yourself a moment to stay present to see maybe one possible next step you can take to bring yourself back to a state of peace or joy, or at the very least, acceptance. Doing this will allow yourself the space to process and heal so when you do have the capability to take that next step you won’t be carrying all the baggage from the situation to the next.

Life is constantly evolving, and the ability to adapt to new circumstances is crucial. Embrace uncertainty as an opportunity for growth and view change as a chance to explore new facets of yourself that you may not have seen before when things were going your way. Stay curious, be willing to learn, and never stop evolving as an individual. I have no doubt that all of us possess all the qualities needed to be a survivor. We all have remarkable strength in the face of adversity. If you do not have confidence in your ability to overcome any obstacle that comes your way, find someone who does that isn't going to pull you into toxic behaviors while you are vulnerable. Believe in yourself, surround yourself with love and support, and remember that you are not alone on this journey.
