The Kauffman Center is an organization with one overriding goal—to bring artists and audiences together. The soul of the Kauffman Center is a living tradition of great artists and extraordinary performances. It is a setting maximized for the special and shared needs of our local artists and their organizations. The Kauffman Center provides affordable access to stages and other facilities for performances, education and other activities.
A strong program of arts education is integral to our mission. Kansas City can and must nurture and educate its own artists, and the Center is solidly committed to participating in this vital endeavor.

Blue-eyed soul pioneers The Righteous Brothers are back! With a string of #1 classics, including the most played song in radio history, You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame duo of Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield topped the charts for four decades . After Bobby’s death in 2003, Bill Medley continued to perform to sold-out crowds around the world, but fans and friends pleaded with him to keep The Righteous Brothers alive
The Bill Medley/Bucky Heard pairing came as something of a happy accident Medley says it just seemed right, “He fits The Righteous Brothers live performance show perfectly . And, we’ve even recorded some new material together, I’m really excited!”
Bill Medley is truly one of the iconic figures in American music history . His instantly recognizable baritone voice has anchored some of the biggest recordings of all time . He’s won a Grammy, an Oscar, a Golden Globe and an American Music Award Always active and stretching his creative talents, Medley has also sung on the soundtracks or performed the theme songs for 33 movies and TV shows and, in 2014, released his memoir, The Time of My Life, published by Da Capo Press .
Bucky Heard is an Alabama native and Auburn University alum . He’s been one of the most popular and versatile performers in America for several years, headlining countless shows in major venues . His reputation as a gutsy rock and roll singer, with an incredible vocal range, has garnered much critical praise and a legion of fans

ABOUT CELTIC THUNDER
In 2007 producer Sharon Browne filmed the first ever Celtic Thunder show at the Helix in Dublin, Ireland . The concept was to feature a group of men from Ireland and Scotland, who range in age from 21 to 42, and feature songs that celebrate a common Celtic heritage .
The resulting show included an eclectic mix of songs ranging from the traditional to international hits and some original pieces along the way The current cast of Celtic Thunder is made up of diverse performers, Emmet Cahill, Neil Byrne, Damian McGinty and Ronan Scolard
The members of Celtic Thunder are each a powerhouse in both their solo and ensemble songs . Ably backed by the dynamic Celtic Thunder Band, their shows are known for the use of dramatic effects of lighting and choreography as well as a stage set resembling an ancient stone pathway suggestive of those referenced in Celtic lore .
The first Celtic Thunder CD/DVD was released in March 2008 and was simply called Celtic Thunder – The Show A full US and Canada tour followed in the fall of that year, along with a second CD from the Show called Act II . In 2009 Celtic Thunder released their second DVD third CD Take Me Home This was followed by It’s Entertainment in 2010, which paid homage to US pop culture .
Three subsequent releases Heritage, Voyage and New Voyage firmly returned the show to its Celtic roots, stocked full of Irish and Scottish traditional and contemporary songs The first Celtic Thunder Christmas CD and DVD were also released in October 2010 .
Two more releases followed in 2011 for Celtic Thunder, Heritage in Feb ’11 and Storm, their first theatrical production in August 2011 Celtic Thunder also took the Heritage show on tour in the US that year .
By the end of 2022, Celtic Thunder had toured the US and Canada, coast to coast, fourteen times, Australia four times performing over 1,000 shows to date to millions of fans . Celtic Thunder has also undertaken four entertainment cruises in the Caribbean, each one transporting over 4,000 fans on a four-day musical extravaganza .
Their new show is called Odyssey and is a fascinating exploration of Irish music and culture, a sweeping voyage through the heartlands of traditional Irish music, the rhythmic pulse of contemporary Irish music, and the innovative original arrangements that are emblematic of the ensemble’s unique sound .
The shared musical chemistry of Celtic Thunder’s lead vocalists gives the show its compelling power, while each singer adds their distinctive voice and charm to this musical journey, creating a harmonious blend that appeals to a broad spectrum of tastes . Odyssey will play in 32 cities across North America opening in Minneapolis on October 5th 2023
Celtic Thunder has been hailed as Billboard’s Top World Music Artist five times, along with Top World Music Imprint and Top World Album (2008, 2009, 2011, 2015 and 2016) The Celtic Thunder official YouTube channel, “Thunder Tube” has received over 350 million views since its inception in 2008 and has 415,000 active subscribers Celtic Thunder also has over 1 1 million followers on its official Facebook page .
EMERGENCY EVACUATION PROCEDURES
The Kauffman Center is equipped with advanced life-safety early alert systems. Each performance hall is designed with emergency exits in case of an evacuation. In the event of severe weather, shelter in place inside the hall, not in a lobby area, and await further instructions.
In the event of an emergency, the performance will be interrupted. Horns and strobes will sound. Emergency instructions will be delivered from the stage.
Please remain seated as staff use an appropriate amount of investigational time to verify the source of the alarm.* Should an evacuation be necessary, lighted red (Muriel Kauffman Theatre) and green (Helzberg Hall) exit signs will lead patrons to one of eight emergency exit paths.
Patrons who are not able to safely and comfortably navigate stairs should remain in the venue near one of the marked “Emergency Evacuation Assistance” areas. First responders will evacuate those requiring assistance immediately upon their arrival.
Elevators, primary entrances and the Brandmeyer Great Hall staircase are NOT used in the case of an emergency evacuation.

Public Access Hours and Private Tours
The Kauffman Center generally maintains public access hours on Fridays from 10 a .m . to 5 p .m . during which visitors may explore Brandmeyer Great Hall . Additionally, private tours led by a trained guide can be scheduled at kauffmancenter .org/tours . Tours are approximately 60 minutes in length, are available with reservations and are dependent on the Kauffman Center’s schedule .

Patrons who would benefit from comforting sensory resources are invited to exchange an ID card for a sensory kit from coat check on the Plaza Lobby Level These kits contain resources such as noise-reducing headphones, weighted lap pads and handheld sensory items .

KAUFFMAN CENTER LEGACY SOCIETY
Legacy Society members have made planned gifts to the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, helping the organization plan for the future.
Barbara and Doug Cusick became Kauffman Center supporters long before ground was broken for the building.
“We were inspired by the many ways the Kauffman family has shown its support for Kansas City,” said Doug, “and we wanted to do what we could for the new performing arts venue.” Barbara and Doug opened their home and their unique collection of antique automatic musical instruments for fund-raising events. They also made a generous capital gift, purchased a seat plaque in honor of his mother and contributed to the Jane Chu Arts Endowment.
Now Doug and Barbara have looked ahead by making the Kauffman Center the future recipient of a life insurance policy their family no longer needs. “It’s as easy as changing the beneficiary’s name on a whole life insurance policy,” Doug explained. “We see this as a legacy from our entire family, that makes the performing arts and a vibrant downtown available to our kids, grandkids and beyond.”
