GREETINGS FROM Julia Irene Dennie-Kauffman
CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD
Dear Friends,
Welcome to the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts. We are honored to have you here to celebrate our commitment in bringing artistic and cultural excellence to all ages, interests and backgrounds.
The Kauffman Center is an organization with one overriding goal—to bring artists and audiences together. The soul of the Kauffman Center is a living tradition of great artists and extraordinary performances. It is a setting maximized for the special and shared needs of our local artists and their organizations. Join them as they pull out all of the games and cleverness at their disposal to get Dad off that bean bag. Bluey’s Big Play is a brand-new theatrical adaptation of the Emmy® award-winning children’s television series, with an original story by Bluey creator Joe Brumm and new music by Bluey composer, Joff Bush. Bluey’s Big Play is presented by BBC Studios and Andrew Kay in association with Windmill Theatre Co.
PARK UNIVERSITY INTERNATIONAL CENTER FOR MUSIC
When Stanislav loudenitch first started the Park International Center for Music, he began with a simple concept. Find exceptional music teachers, and give them the time, tools, focus, and dedication needed to transform exceptional students into masters themselves. An internationally-recognized Van Cliburn gold medalist, Ioudenitch assembled a team that shared his world-class skills and his passion for teaching. Other outstanding programs have great master instructors. But no other American conservatory lets those masters devote the time to their students like they do at Park ICM.
Come experience the birth of our international stars. Visit ICM.PARK.EDU for our concert schedule today.

Emergency Evacuation Procedures
The Kauffman Center is equipped with advanced life-safety early alert systems. Each performance hall is designed with emergency exits in case of an evacuation. In the event of severe weather, shelter in place inside the hall, not in a lobby area, and await further instructions.
In the event of an emergency, the performance will be interrupted. Horns and strobes will sound. Emergency instructions will be delivered from the stage.
Please remain seated as staff use an appropriate amount of investigational time to verify the source of the alarm.* Should an evacuation be necessary, lighted red (Muriel Kauffman Theatre) and green (Helzberg Hall) exit signs will lead patrons to one of eight emergency exit paths.
Patrons with mobility limitations and/or those who are not able to navigate stairs should remain in the venue near one of the marked “Emergency Evacuation Assistance” areas. First responders will evacuate those requiring assistance immediately upon their arrival.
Elevators, primary entrances and the Brandmeyer Great Hall staircase are NOT used in the case of an emergency evacuation.
For more information on emergency evacuation procedures, visit kauffmancenter.org/policies.
Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts . 22 .
*Kauffman Center’s emergency egress plan, which includes an appropriate amount of investigational time to verify the source of an alarm, was developed with the assistance of the Kansas City, MO Fire Marshall’s Office.
Be at the Center of it all: VOLUNTEER
The Kauffman Center would like to congratulate and thank the Diamond Level volunteers who have each contributed more than 2,500 volunteer service hours.
Darlus Wolff | “My daughter suggested that I volunteer here at the Kauffman Center. It has been a great idea because of all the wonderful people I have met. I am reminded of a biography I read about Mr. Kauffman and how he said his employees were family. That is how I feel about my fellow volunteers and even the patrons we serve every performance. The best part of volunteering is the world class performances. Thank you for letting me be a part of this beautiful place.”
Laurel Downey | “It is my privilege to be a volunteer at the Kauffman Center. This place still takes my breath away. Thank you to all the visionaries in Kansas City and around the world that helped create this jewel of cultural arts. Thank you to all the staff, talented musicians, dancers, singers and artists that bring such a variety of performances for everyone to enjoy. And a big thank you to all my fellow volunteers that have become such great friends. What a joyful and memorable place to be!”
Fonda Sprengelmeyer | “When I first retired from a job that I loved, I knew my first energy had to be volunteering back there, but I still wanted more to fill my free time. I had been volunteering for the Kansas City Symphony, Ballet and Opera at the Lyric and while watching the Kauffman being built. I volunteered early and anxiously waited. It was like winning the lottery to be among that first group of volunteers. People here are friendly, warm and accepting. It feels like home, like family.”
Ken Hagen | “Volunteering at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts. . . it’s the people. It’s the seven-year-old at a student
matinee who said “This is beautiful,” and the eighty-year-old attending the Kansas City Symphony for a Sunday matinee, the patrons in cowboy boots and blue jeans for Texas Tenors and patrons in tuxedos for opening night at the Lyric Opera or Kansas City Ballet. It’s patrons in Harry Potter or Star Wars costumes, the proud grandparents at graduations or an out-of-town visitor who just wanted to admire the building. Each brings something special to volunteering but the best “people” experiences are with the Kauffman Center people: performance leads, team captains and especially the family of volunteers.”
Bob Fierst | ”Upon retirement, I decided to give back and volunteer at the Kauffman Center. What I did not expect was that this would become, so far, a 10-year experience that would provide me a feeling of pride and usefulness. The experiences not only expanded my appreciation of the arts but I was part of a new family that shared the desire to make our community a better place. What I have given has come back multifold. To consider myself a small part of this organization is something that is hard to put in words and give a value to. It is a blessing to be a part of the Kauffman family.”

Kauffman Center Legacy Society
Legacy Society members have made planned gifts to the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, helping the organization plan for the future.
Barbara and Doug Cusick became Kauffman Center supporters long before ground was broken for the building.
“We were inspired by the many ways the Kauffman family has shown its support for Kansas City,” said Doug, “and we wanted to do what we could for the new performing arts venue.” Barbara and Doug opened their home and their unique collection of antique automatic musical instruments for fundraising events. They also made a generous capital gift, purchased a seat plaque in honor of his mother and contributed to the Jane Chu Arts Endowment.
Now Doug and Barbara have looked ahead by making the Kauffman Center the future recipient of a life insurance policy their family no longer needs. “It’s as easy as changing the beneficiary’s name on a whole life insurance policy,” Doug explained. “We see this as a legacy from our entire family, that makes the performing arts and a vibrant downtown available to our kids, grandkids and beyond.”
