Warren Takes Over the Tongs for Mr Perfect

Meet the new Mr Perfect host, Warren Maltby

Meet the new host of Yeppoon’s Mr Perfect monthly barbecues – Warren Maltby. Warren was prompted to take over the tongs and throw the snags on the barby each month when the men ’ s mental health group needed a new host.

Having seen Mr Perfect advertised on Facebook, he often thought that he would go to the next one next month. But by the time he had plucked up the courage to go, the group was on hold for a few months while a new host was found.

Life’s longterm stress and not being able to afford the professional help he needed during challenging times are what motivated Warren to step up and take over the tongs, providing the male community with an outlet for connection and mateship each month, As we know, barbecues bring people together.

The barbecues are back at Kemp Beach after trialling a few different locations and are held on the 3rd Sunday of the month from 10.30am – 12.30pm. It’s a place to come together, have a chat, where new connections and friendships are formed.

The benefits of having a yarn to someone else who is experiencing a difficult time can help to ease your own burdens. There are no expectations to share anything or to even chat about mental health.

Mr Perfect is a not-for-profit organisation running at several locations across the country and often relies on donations from the community to help the groups continue. Our local Mr Perfect group has been supported by the kindness of community members and local councillors.
