THE DREADED

SCHOOL BEDTIME ROUTINE Find it difficult to put your child to bed when the sun is still out? Us too! It's no secret, we let the bedtime routines slack during the Summer months. But now that we are headed back to school soon, it's time to get back to catching some earlier zzz's .Here are two tips to help ease the change!

1. Little changes = success. Telling your child to go to bed an hour or two earlier than normal (especially when it is still light out!) is probably not going to go well. Instead, make little adjustments each day. Shoot for 15-20 minutes earlier each day, and by the time the week is over you will be back on track! 2. Make bed time fun. As a child the idea to come in from outside to clean up and go to bed is a pretty big bummer. So make bed time extra fun! Try picking out a new book to read before bed for awhile, or plan on playing a quiet game to help that wind down time not seem like such a chore.

When it comes to back to school time, there tends to be two types of children. You have those that are excited for a new year, OR there are those that are not. If your child is more like the second option, know you are in good company. Anxious and nervous are both common ways children will describe their looming first day.

What to do: Mix paint, glue and shaving cream together, and stir until you form stiff peaks. Draw a simple school bus outline on either poster board or canvas. Cheap canvas packs can often be found in the craft aisles at major retail stores. The paint is very heavy and wet, so it’s best to paint on something that has some strength so the paint doesn't go right through! Paint your bus! Let dry and admire!
