Snake Safety and Behaviour

Ravi Sydney Wildlife

Thursday 2 November | 7pm – 8:30pm

Join Ravi from Sydney Wildlife to learn about snake safety and behaviour in this interactive workshop. As the weather warms up snakes get more active, and it is more likely you may see snakes moving about. Learn about the behaviour of these unique species, their important role in the environment, what to do if you see a snake and how to treat a snake bite with basic first aid. Ravi is a wildlife rescuer and has unique experience in caring for snake species in The Hills. Find out more about snakes in your area and what we can do to stay safe around snakes and live in harmony with these important creatures.

Learn How to Make Your Own Bag Lynn Community Environment Centre

Thursday 16 November | 10am – 12pm

Celebrate National Recycling week and learn how to make your own bag out of repurposed fabric! This interactive hands-on workshop will involve a demonstration on how to make your own bag using beautiful cotton fabrics from Vinnies and other repurposed facilities. By making your own bag, we can reuse fabrics that may have otherwise gone to landfill and create our own unique item! Please be aware we have very limited spots for this workshop, and you must bring your own sewing machine.

Native Christmas Wreath Community Environment Centre

Thursday 7 December | 10am – 12pm

Get involved in the Christmas spirit out at the Community Environment Centre and make your own native Christmas wreath! Native plants have a huge range of colours and textures and look beautiful as decorative plants. Bring your own native plant cuttings or use some native cuttings from our gardens to decorate and create your own recycled Christmas wreath. Native cuttings form into dried flower arrangements which will be a unique and special piece for Christmas.

Christmas Pickling and Preserving Margaret Moss House

Saturday 9 December | 10am – 12pm

Homemade colourful preserves are a great gift for Christmas! During this Christmas focused preserving workshop you will learn how to manage an abundance of seasonable fruit and vegetables as well as leftovers by preserving them. Find out more about various preserving techniques and help to make a seasonal preserve using common kitchen equipment and utensils. During the session we will make two preserves in small jars as lovely Christmas presents. This workshop is supported by The Hills Shire Council Resource Recovery Team.
