Gathering the details We have endeavoured to provide useful contact details for, at the very least, the chief executive officer and/or the chair of the organisations. For most membership organisations, this is straightforward. Additional details of representatives are also provided as members may want to contact local reps. However, including the home town of a member does not necessarily mean they specifically represent an area; we just think it is handy if you happen to run across them in the local supermarket. We don’t think it is unreasonable for government agencies to supply either an email or contact phone number for a chief executive, details that are more or less guaranteed to make contact with the intended recipient; but not everyone agrees with us. In the 10 years New Zealand Doctor has published an annual list of details of key health organisations, we have never heard of an individual being overwhelmed with calls or emails as a result of making their details available, but we have had plenty of feedback that the information is useful. It is not extensive and we don’t mean to offend by omission. Barbara Fountain, editor
