welcome This season we have an abundance of powerful contemporary theatre for all ages: Zest theatre’s what once was ours asks why we have become so fearful of anyone who is different from us, Paines Plough’s Growth is a comedy about growing up and manning up, Joan from Milk Presents explores what it means to stand up, stand out and stand alone, in a refreshing take on Joan of Arc, and for all the fires not yet lit, is a small, tender and mighty story of everyday bravery from Catherine ireton. Accessible programming includes Tuck Shop’s 1001 fireflies, a multi-sensory adventure with movement, puppetry and rich visuals for young people with complex needs and/or multiple disabilities. Accompanying this, on our class programme we offer classes in Wheelchair Dance and Contemporary Dance for those with S.E.N.D.. If you want to take your love of performing to the next level there is still time to bag an audition for our performing arts foundation programmes in Acting, Dance and Musical Theatre. Also new for 2018 is the addition of GCSE Drama. This is of course alongside our popular termly classes programme featuring ballet, contemporary, street dance and more. New for the season are classes for little ones Tap & Modern, and Ballet.

The Garage is launching a new Arts Award Open Centre and we need you! Are you a young person interested in the arts?

Arts Award lets you explore your creativity whilst working towards a nationally recognised qualification. Whatever art form you’re interested in, whatever your ability, Arts Award fits you. You don’t need to be taking part in classes at The Garage, we can support you to gain your Award for your creative activities elsewhere. Simply email artsaward@thegarage.org.uk with your name, age and what arts activities you do, and we will match you with an adviser to plan your Arts Award journey.

Are you an adult who would like to become a Volunteer Arts Award Adviser?

We are offering free training and a 12 month support programme to experienced youth workers who would like to extend their skills to include Arts Award Delivery. In addition to training and support, we will help you set up your organisation as an Arts Award Centre so that you can use your newly acquired skills to benefit your participants. After your training we will match you with young people who you will support through the award in bespoke projects to suit your availability. If you are 18+, hold a current enhanced DBS, have at least two years experience working with young people (or three years part time) and would like to be involved, email artsaward@thegarage.org.uk for full details and training dates.
