In my latest show, I resonate with Marcel Proust's discovery near the end of his novel ''In Search Of Lost Time'' —that a primary source for art and inspiration can be found in the past, where beauty and meaning are already shaped by time. So too I faced a similar hunt for subject matter and meaning early on in my career. It wasn't until I discovered old photographs in a second-hand store that I found my muse. Time had etched them with nostalgia, memory, and the weight of moments once lived. They were not simply images, but unintentional works of art. Like Proust, I realised my role was not to invent, but to recognise—to give full attention to what time had already made beautiful. This series is part of an ongoing exploration into the emotional residues of midcentury popular culture. Drawing from the visual language of classic cinema, vintage magazines and old postcards, I use imagery from the 1960s and 70s to reconstruct environments saturated with a sense of reminiscence and nostalgia.
