Once I gained the confidence to share this choreopoem, I started many conversations, which is what I wanted. Take this content back into your homes and have discussions. After all, Black History is American History. Writing stories such as this comes with a lot of responsibility, but I know I am not the only one with a story to share.

FULTON

If you are reading this, you are in the theatre watching FOR COLORED BOYZ! I want to thank you for coming to see our show.

I have been on this writing journey since 2014, the year Michael Brown was killed, and I have learned so much as a black man in America and a theatre artist. It took me a long time to have confidence in this piece and to share it with the world.

Remember that the harvest is plentiful, the laborers few. Thank you, Marc, and the excellent Fulton staff for making me feel at home and nurturing this process. I hope you enjoy the show!
