Brethren Village has so many ways to live a vibrant life, both physically and socially. From lifestyle and culture to dining and socialization, all available on our beautiful Lititz campus. And, of course, we have dozens of floor plans and financial options. See for yourself; call 717.581.4227 to tour our community.
THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF IT!
Age 4 - I played Toto in the Wizard of Oz.
Age 10 - I was Jiminy Cricket in Pinocchio.
Age 21 - I got my Equity card as the back end of the cow in Gypsy. And though my humble beginnings were mostly compromised of animals, I have spent my entire life in the theatre.
I know that I got hooked early because I loved the attention it brought to me. I loved the role-playing (even if I started as a dog), I loved the dress up, but I LOVED the storytelling and the feeling I had while I did it.
As a young artist I don’t think I really processed what the audience’s part of all that was. I was so focused on the DOING that I never really thought of WHO we were doing it for. Even when I put on shows in my parents garage, we still waited for the neighbors to show up before we started.
It wasn’t until much later in my career that I truly understood that WHO we were doing it for and WHY we were doing it was the reason I could be an artist!! In fact, it wasn’t until THIS community, THIS organization and THIS historic building that I fully embraced this reality. I know now (as a much older “puppy” who understands what Jiminy Cricket really was about – and with no illusions of getting back in a cow suit) that the gathering of our community for a “one time” theatrical performance is the very unique experience that all of the artists and administrators are creating this for.
This is a very long way of saying, THANK YOU NEIGHBORS for being here today!! When we were closed for the pandemic, it was the echoes of your laughter and the promise of its return that kept us going. We are grateful to you for being here and we are humbled by all that you do for this organization and all the artists in our community by going to the theatre.
I do have one small request, if possible. If you enjoy yourself today and know of another neighbor who still may be reticent to come back to the theatre, would you please remind them that coming downtown to The Fulton is not just about us, it’s about all of our actual neighbors and businesses that rely on our gathering of the community so that they, too, can engage with their stories.
We are asking everyone this year to come downtown and BE A PART OF IT. We are so grateful to you for making that choice and hope you have a GREAT SEASON experience with us!!!!!

He has written essays on the arts and politics for the New Republic, the New Yorker, The Nation, The New York Times and Vanity Fair. Douglas McGrath passed away on November 4, 2022.
GERRY GOFFIN (Words and Music) Born in Brooklyn in 1939, Gerry Goffin met Carole King at Queens College, and their musical collaboration began almost immediately. They married in 1959, and that same year wrote their first hit song "Will You Love Me Tomorrow?" (The Shirelles). The duo penned more than 50 Top-40 hits including "The Locomotion," "Natural Woman" and "Up on the Roof." In 1987, Goffin and King were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990. Goffin has left an indelible mark on American music.
CAROLE KING (Words and Music) Pop music would be very different without the contributions of Carole King, who at age 17 wrote her first #1 hit with Gerry Goffin, "Will You Love Me Tomorrow," for the Shirelles. The dozens of chart hits Goffin and King wrote during this period became legendary, but it was 1971's Tapestry that took King to the pinnacle, speaking personally to her contemporaries and providing a spiritual musical backdrop to the decade. More than 400 of her compositions have been recorded by over 1,000 artists, resulting in 100 hit singles and six Grammys.
BARRY MANN (Words and Music) Barry Mann has written the melodies of some of the most influential pop songs in musical history. In addition to "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling," the most-played song of the last century, and the songs heard in Beautiful, he composed later standards like "Somewhere Out There" (winner of two Grammys), "Here You Come Again," "Sometimes When We Touch," "Just Once" and "Don't Know Much." Together he and Cynthia Weil have amassed an incredible 112 pop, country, and R&B awards from Broadcast Music Inc. for significant radio air play. He has been inducted into both the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
CYNTHIA WEIL (Words and Music) Cynthia Weil was the acclaimed lyricist of classic songs such as "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling," the most-played song of the 20th century. In addition to the songs heard in Beautiful, she set the words to later standards including "Somewhere Out There," "Here You Come Again," "He's So Shy," "Just Once" and "Don't Know Much," to name just a few. Weil was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, honored with multiple Grammy nominations and two Grammy awards for "Somewhere Out There" as the Motion Pictures Song of the Year and Song of the Year. Weil passed away on June 1, 2023.
