Welcome new members!
Colleagues,
I hope you all had a fantastic summer. As we head into fall, we enter THEF’s most active time of the year. Our calendar is packed with networking events, events coproduced with partnership associations, and of course, our annual Transformational Summit. Despite the postponement, we encourage you to make time for this great opportunity to hear from experts and network with colleageues.
Transitioning into a new season is also a good time to reflect on the accomplishments and milestones that impact local healthcare delivery.
Most of the health systems in and around the Triangle have opened new facilities that have improved access and keeps care closer to home for our region. New partnerships continue to form in order to tap into specialized expertise and to create synergies. While the changes may be disconcerting to some of us from a competitive standpoint, I believe these are all opportunities to provide better access and quality improvements, which ultimately benefit those patients we serve. That is what I find most valuable about ACHE and THEF, the ability to learn from those involved who have experienced similar endeavors.
Recently, THEF members were surveyed by ACHE to understand satisfaction with our chapter and learn how THEF can better serve them. I am very happy to report that member satisfaction was 4.35/5, up from 4.06 in 2023 and well above the national average of 3.84.The engagement of our THEF members and the leaders who volunteer so much time and effort are the reason THEF scored well above the national average. I want to personally thank all the board and committee members for their support and dedication.
Looking ahead, we should anticipate further advancements in healthcare tech and the use of AI, increased momentum in addressing disparities, and continued collaborations to enhance quality and patient safety. THEF will be offering education sessions, panel discussions, and C-suite roundtables to dive into these issues and more.
Thank you for all you do! Wishing you a successful end of summer and a promising start to fall.
VI-ANNE ANTRUM, DNP, RN, FACHE REGENT FOR NORTH CAROLINA
Hello wonderful
colleagues!
It is that time of year when school starts back up and weather starts to cool as we welcome Fall! For many people, this time represents being busy with work and home as you juggle multiple priorities. I want to challenge each of us to reflect on how we are using our precious resource of time. Are you simply busy or being truly productive? It’s easy to squander time unintentionally if we do not plan the work and work the plan.
Have you made time not just for work and family things are you making time for your physical health? Mental health? Spiritual health? In order to be your best, it’s really important to prioritize your wellbeing so you can continue to show up as the powerful, dynamic force for good that you are! Self-care is not selfish as you can’t pour from an empty cup. I hope many of you are squeezing out every drop of the tremendous value that your ACHE membership offers. I have had the opportunity to showcase some of the many benefits with people and they are always amazed at the plethora of resources provided at the local and national levels for ACHE! I have taken advantage of the annual ACHE competencies each year to create a professional development plan for myself. It has afforded me deep insights into areas of needed growth over the years.
From CareerEdge to mentoring to interview prep to coaching and education, ACHE has you covered! In today’s fast-paced healthcare environment, it is imperative to have leaders who understand the shifts occurring in the industry. ACHE is your partner in staying abreast of important trends and changes.
Finally, I would encourage each one of you to consider giving back through volunteer service to your local chapter, as a mentor, or as a committee member. It is a great way to meet people, build connections, and utilize your skills in new and different ways. I enjoy doing this and I always get more than I give! If you need help getting started, please reach out to your local chapter leadership so they can get you plugged in. It is an incredibly rewarding experience that fills my cup. What fills your cup? In service to you,

On September 5th, members of THEF and N.A.H.S.E came together for a joint Happy Hour, providing a wonderful opportunity to connect! The casual networking event at Hi-Wire Brewing offered an ideal setting for engaging conversations among healthcare professionals.
With both indoor and outdoor spaces available, attendees enjoyed a relaxed atmosphere. New members learned about the benefits of each organization and discovered upcoming events. It was a fantastic evening of networking and camaraderie!

CHAPTER EVENT SYNOPSIS
By Jaleesa Shepard
The North Carolina Chapter of The National Association of Health Services Executives (NAHSE) hosted a Health Equity Symposium on September 12, 2024 at the beautiful Pine venue.
This year’s topic was "Shattering Silos: A Community Ecosystem Approach to Achieve Health Equity," featuring insights from prominent leaders throughout the state of North Carolina. The event aimed to foster meaningful networking opportunities, encouraging healthcare and community leaders to engage in constructive dialogue about collaborating to enhance health equity.
The symposium sparked a thought-provoking discussion on the definition of health equity. The panel emphasized the importance of collaboration across sectors, highlighting that health and wellness start in the community rather than the healthcare system. The speakers underscored that we all have a role in addressing and reducing inequities in healthcare.

Restoring Humanity in Healthcare: A Manifesto for Reinvention
At the 2024 Healthcare in the Age of Personalization Virtual Summit, leaders from across the healthcare industry gathered to explore how personalization is reshaping the future of healthcare. This summit offered critical insights on the Leadership in the Age of Personalization (LAOP) movement, driven by the need for leaders to shift away from outdated standards and embrace individual care. The discussions at the summit were foundational in developing the upcoming Healthcare Leadership Manifesto, which distills the key ideas shared by industry leaders and further expands on how personalization can transform organizational culture and improve both patient and employee experiences.
Key Themes from the Summit Reflected in the Manifesto:
Personalized Leadership: How leaders must prioritize the individuality of both patients and employees to build resilient, future-focused organizations.
Healthcare’s New Frontier: As highlighted by summit speakers, personalization isn’t just about patient care it’s about creating a culture that embraces the humanity of everyone in the healthcare system.
Call to Action: The manifesto will act as a guiding document, providing leaders with practical strategies to operationalize personalization within their organizations.
If you missed the summit or want to revisit the conversations that inspired the manifesto, the full event recordings are now available on YouTube.
For deeper insights, read Glenn Llopis’ Forbes articles that inspired both the summit and the manifesto: Read More on Forbes
Stay tuned on our GLLG Healthcare website for the official release of the manifesto. It will be available for download soon.
