Bicycle Co-op info night Saturday, Feb. 22, 4 - 8 p.m. 502B Lake St, Nelson Nelson community non-profit bicycle co-op is on its way to being open. The vision...a space where anyone can come to learn and have access to tools for repairing and maintaining their own bike. Everyone is welcome to come to the info night where you can view the space, learn more and see the vision. Refreshments will be provided. Proposals for bike racks Deadline is Thursday, Mar. 6 The City of Nelson is seeking design proposals for bike racks, to be installed in five locations in downtown Nelson. Entries are encouraged to be as creative as possible, while meeting the need for racks that are durable, easy to install, affordable, and use sidewalk space efficiently. Library workers ratify contract

Eighteen local CUPE workers and the Nelson Public Library have ratified a new three-year contract. The deal was reached last month, on January 8, 2014, by CUPE Local 339 reps, the Chief Librarian, Library Board Chair and City Administration. The new agreement lasts until The new agreement provides a wage increase that strikes a balanced outcome for workers, while helping reduce costs associated with sick leave, and at the same time providing benefit improvements for workers. There are three other union contracts remaining for The City and its workers to ratify. www.nelson.ca
