Caring
For our Community: Environmental Stewardship Health and Wellness
Building

April 22, 2024
How it started...
Imagine the spring of 2022, as the world cautiously emerged from the grip of COVID19. At Wartburg, nestled in Mount Vernon, NY, our campus lay dormant, begging for a little TLC. Inspired by the need for change, I rallied volunteers from near and far, and together we set out to spruce up our beloved grounds.
With the help of generous partners like Home Depot, we got our hands on flowers and supplies, ready to bring some life back into our community. When we opened our gates to the public for the first time in two years, we were overwhelmed by the turnout. It was clear: our little cleanup project had struck a chord.
Fast forward to today, and we're celebrating our 3rd Annual Earth Day with double the crowd and even more enthusiasm. What started as a simple idea has grown into something much bigger, a yearly gathering that brings us all together for a day of fun and purpose.
We've expanded our partnerships and collaborations, making it easier for folks to get involved in a way that feels right for them. And through it all, one thing remains constant: the feeling of family. Whether you're staff, a resident, a volunteer, or a community partner, you're part of our Wartburg family.
As we look ahead, our motto of "stronger together" rings truer than ever. With each passing year, we're reminded of the power of community and the impact we can make when we work together. Here's to many more years of growth, connection, and making our corner of the world a little brighter.
