As small business owners and entrepreneurs, it’s imperative that we keep up with the times if we are going to experience longevity and continue to make an impact within the world as well as our communities.

When I started my business in 2011, everything was much different from the way it is now, including social media and video marketing being at an all time high. I can remember hosting conference calls to empower and equip prospects and clients on their journey, which has now evolved into masterclasses, webinars, and online trainings.

"e·volve (verb): to develop gradually, or to make someone or something change and develop gradually."
PAGE 7

Having the ability to evolve individually as well as professionally is paramount for your success and in honor of National Black Business Month, I would like to share with you a few things to help you pivot and prosper in your business:

Don’t Be Afraid To Try Something New

So often we become comfortable doing things the way we have always done them even if it’s not working. Instead of growing frustrated, step out of your comfort zone by daring to do something you’ve never done. The key here is to ask yourself: “What is one thing that can change everything?”

Track Your Progress

The key here is to measure where you were in relation to where you are and where you desire to be. Tracking your progress can help you remain motivated and inspired on your journey.

PAGE 8

Redefine Success

To me, peace and self-awareness is the new success. It’s not about how much money you can make, how many people you can get to sign up for your program or event, or even how many followers you have. For me, it’s no longer about how much revenue I generate within my business, but positioning myself to leave a legacy long after I’m gone, and implementing strategies and systems within my brand that represent who I am as well as who I am evolving into while helping others do the same.

Dare To Be Different

In society today it’s so easy to get caught up into what everyone else is doing however, I challenge you to take some time this month to assess who you have grown into, what your new goals are and tap into what really makes you happy, whole and fulfilled. As trailblazers, our mission is to go where there is no path and leave a trail.

PAGE 9

Be Relatable

A lot of times, we remain as we are out of fear of what could be (read that again). Many of us suffer from limiting beliefs and imposter syndrome and instead of trying to hide it, open up about it. Being relatable is not only a key component of branding but also in your marketing message. Don’t be afraid to share your struggle(s) as well as your success. The goal is not to impress others but to impress upon them the possibilities of what could be if we dare to get out of our own way.

Be encouraged on your journey and spend some time reflecting on how you can:

- Step Out And Try Something New

- Track Your Progress

- Redefine Success

- Dare To Be Different

- Be Relatable

I am wishing each of you much success this year and beyond! Your evolution is going to be beautiful. It’s not over for you; there’s so much more in store and my friend, you have yet to scratch the surface.

Meditation Thoughts

“Your legacy is every life you touch.”

“The whole point of being alive is to evolve into the complete person you were intended to be.”

Author Unknown

“When hardships come into your life it breaks you for a while, but when it is done, you evolve into a new person.”

“God never gives us more than we can handle. Everything that comes our way is coming our way so that we can grow and evolve.”

“Life is about the journey not the destination, and who we become while on the way to where we are going.”

Shagmond Lowery Founder, Lead Developer

“In today’s world we hear so much about EQUITY, DIVERSITY & INCLUSION within our school systems, but none of these things can be of any value to students unless they feel safe.”

About

Meet Shagmound Lowery, Founder & Lead Developer of MyPal School App, a web-based, school safety app that helps keep school students safe from situations such as bullying, cyberbullying, personal crisis, fighting, and school threats, by allowing students to report issues instantly and anonymously to improve school safety in real time at any grade level.

Formerly serving as an information technology educator for several years, Shagmound watched his students struggle daily to maximize their full potential as students, due to barriers caused by bullying, cyberbullying, personal crisis, fighting, and coping with school threats within elementary, middle, junior high, and high scho l

PAGE 50

Because of these issues, he decided to create a web based app that would offer them a voice to report situations and help them get back on track with learning, without worrying about issues that barred them from being the greatest students they could be. This idea of the MyPal Schools

App has birthed his mission to keep school students safe at and around schools by offering schools the opportunity to subscribe to the "MyPal Schools" school safety app.

Beginning in 2019 with one private school as a pilot program, the MyPal School App has expanded to more than 80 schools nationally and counting. The MyPal School App has been attributed to helping app users experience a decrease in overall hostility towards the student body and has contributed to the increase in overall student performance success. This fall, Shagmound Lowery and the MyPal Schools App will be hosting a community event to present awards to its users.
