So much has happened since the last article. Here’s a brief run down: The park was full for the Movie in the Park event. Again, thank you Valhalla Publishing for the food and beverages.

Many enjoyed hot dogs, nachos, popcorn and a beverage all for free. Tasty food and a fun event under the stars.

Clean up, Shred and Garage Sale was a successful event.

There were 60 homes that signed up for the garage sale, 15.89 tons of trash dropped off at Los Altos and five tons of shredding was done at Saratoga.

Spring Expo and Pancake Breakfast was a great day.

Many came out to have delicious pancakes cooked by the Retirees Club and visit with vendors who assisted those with questions on conservation. Special thanks to the Water Management Committee who organized the Spring Expo vendors and the Retirees Club for the pancake breakfast.

At the BYOB event, many enjoyed adult beverages and dancing to live music. There were also outdoor activities.

As I’m writing this, the Annual Meeting has not happened, but by the time you are reading this the meeting is now in the past. Information on the election of Board of Directors will be in May’s issue. You can find it also on the website.

The Board of Directors would like to thank you for taking the time to vote. Your participation is very important to the Association.

Los Altos Lap Pool construction is completed. Just in time for the summer. The pool was resurfaced and travertine replaced the decking. We hope that you will enjoy the remodeled pool.

There is much to come this summer. Currently staff is getting ready for Cerveza Run (May 6), summer camp (May 30) and preschool. We are working on new lights for the Los Altos Recreation Center and the Master Planning Committee will be proposing designs to the Board of Directors for a new patio area at La Casita.

Prior to the March Board of Directors meeting we held our annual candidate forum offering the opportunity to hear the 2017 Board of Director candidates’ points of view. Candidates, including myself, answered some “hard-hitting” questions. Thank you to our moderator, Board of Director Vice President Susan Powers. Candidates responded to questions regarding their capabilities, experience, qualifications, and perspectives on various Ranch issues.

Next, I called the March 16, 2017 Dobson Ranch Homeowners Association Board of Directors meeting to order at 7:00 pm. Here is a recap…

The first item of business was the President’s Report. As mentioned in my last article, I recounted the Dennis Kavanaugh Park designation on Sunday, February 26, located on the corner of Isabella and Dobson. Dennis was both surprised and very pleased with this recognition. Thank you to all who attended the ribbon cutting ceremony to honor Dennis and recognize his many years of contribution to Dobson Ranch and the City of Mesa.

Fencing at the Park has been replaced and a lighted sign has been added at the entrance (thanks to Associate Director of Facilities Dennis Melgreen for the fantastic design). Look for further updates to this Park in 2017.

Under “New Business”, the 2017–2018 proposed budget for the Arizona Department of Water Resources was approved. This budget outlines how Dobson Ranch actively manages water and promotes water conservation.

Next on the agenda was the Women’s Club proposed sponsorship. The Board approved sponsoring the Women’s Club Scholarship Program – the Club selects the recipients from Dobson Ranch residents who are continuing their education and the scholarships are awarded at the Club’s Salad Supper in May. The next agenda topic was “Discussion”. Details of the upcoming electronic key system (fob) rollout and accompanying policy were discussed with homeowner ideas being presented and taken into consideration. Lastly, “Capital Expenditures” were discussed; the current policy and ideas on publicizing upcoming projects were considered.

The Board of Directors will meet April 26 at 5:30 pm in the La Casita Grande Room for an Organizational Meeting where the Board will select officers for the upcoming year. The next regular Board of Directors meeting is on Thursday, May 18 at 7:00 pm in the La Casita Grande Room. All residents are welcome and encouraged to attend.

The month of April brings fresh beginnings, flowers, butterflies, April showers… and some really warm temperatures in Mesa! We may not get too many April showers here, but there are a few ways you can be refreshed and invigorated: Saturday, May 6, is the Cerveza Run for all ages. Live Mariachi music and piñatas will round out the fun.

THINGS TO KNOW BOARD MEETING Want to know what is going on in the Association, meet the Board members, sign up for a committee, get to know your Ranch neighbors or voice an opinion? You can do all that at Dobson Association Board of Directors meetings. Meetings are held on the third Thursday at 7 pm at La Casita in the Grande room.

2017 Assessments

Your Neighborhood A New Spring

The Board of Directors has once again approved no increase to the Assessments for 2017. The assessment will remain at $138.60 quarterly ($554.40 annually). Thank you for your contribution in making Dobson Ranch “the best place to live!”.

As a reminder, assessments are due on the first day of each quarter; January, April, July, and October. A late fee of $15 will be charged quarterly if your payment is not received by the 20th day of the first month of each quarter.

There are several options for paying your assessments: 1. Automatic monthly payments can be made through ACH (auto debit to your checking account). Please complete the form that can be found in the “Documents & Forms” tab on our website (www.dobsonranch.com) and return it to the administration office along with a voided check. ACH payments are run on the 5th of each month. The payment will continue to be drafted from your account until you give the Association notice to cancel the ACH. Please note that accounts on ACH will not receive future payment coupons. Notice of any assessment change will be published in the current year October or November issue of the Association’s official publication, the Ranchers’ Round Up. 2. Annual, Semi-Annual, or Quarterly payments can be made by check, cash, debit or credit card. Payments may be mailed to or dropped off at the Association Administration or Recreation departments. Please be sure to include your account number when remitting your payment. Please note that debit or credit card payments cannot be accepted over the phone. Monthly payment is not an option through mail or drop off.

3. Using your bank card, credit card or e-check, automatic and one-time payments can be made at the Dobson Association website (www. dobsonranch.com), by clicking on the “Assessment Payment Portal” (green dollar bill on the front page of the site). If this is the first time you have made a payment on this site, it will be necessary to set up a “New User Account”. Once logged in, select the one-time payment or auto payment option. If setting up automatic recurring payments, click on Menu, click on Auto Pay, and enter your information. Once you have set up the auto pay, the payment will continue to be processed until you stop the payment or make changes. If you are currently setup on recurring payments through the payment portal, please be sure that your payments are set to continue through 2017.

4. You may also send in recurring payments if using automatic bill pay with your personal banking institution. When setting up the payment through your bill pay program, please be sure to reference your account number and property address to ensure proper credit to your account.

Water Management Director

This year has seen a new awareness of what rain can mean in the Southwest. We have thus far received near normal rainfall and the rain has come in manageable amounts; just enough to give a good soaking without generating a lot of run-off. In other places, the story is different, but not unusual. That western state that just switched to Mountain Standard Time, has experienced a wet winter, both in rain and snow fall. Even the Upper Colorado basin has a decent snowpack. Lake Roosevelt water level is above normal, the Verde River dams are full and gratefully, Lake Mead has more water this year than the previous two years.

How should we view this turn of events; with joy of course.

It does not mean we no longer face drought conditions. Drought is a multi-year condition that can and does encompass both wet and dry years. An end would mean our water reservoirs were being recharged, both surface (impounder lakes) and our ground water (water table) storage. Many places have seen a serious depletion of these storage basins that will take time to replenish before the drought can be declared behind us.

For those of us living in the Sonoran Desert, it has meant adapting to a desert lifestyle. Incorporating desert landscaping for many of us has meant changing from a green lawn to a scheme that evokes the desert. And we have done just that. Look around at how Dobson Ranch has changed. It was not an overnight switch, more like a snail moved through devouring all the grass. That snail has brought about a lot of change. Most importantly, water consumption in our homes is down.

Efficient washing machines and low flow toilets are often cited examples.

Why does each household count? To re-enforce the law of big numbers - a lot of homes continuing to save a little here and a little there, soon adds up to a big savings. That is happening now as our water consumption continues to remain steady despite the growth the area has experienced. Adding a desert adapted tree to add shade or adding that desert fan to add texture to the yard also contributes to saving water.

You might not notice the savings in each water bill where hundreds of gallons of water used does not show up, but in a neighborhood our size, one hundred gallons can become 5,000 gallons without anyone noticing. Remember, water makes living in the desert possible - make the best of it.

Good Neighbor Award A friend painted a picture for us. She shipped it. On 2/28/17 the Fed Ex truck arrived at our house, but the driver could not find the package.

A little later a stranger came to the door. “I found this on the street by my driveway” he said. “It is addressed to you” He said that he lived in Laguna Village. That is about 1 mile from our house.

Being a good neighbor isn’t just doing a kindness for those next door.

Sometimes the neighborhood is much larger. I would like to thank the gentleman that found the package that had fallen off the delivery truck and brought it to us. Thank you for being a good neighbor to someone you don’t even know.

Dobson Ranch Garage Sale, Clean-up and Shred

Thanks to all the excitement on March 18, Dobson Ranch is a bit more clean and green! Residents bought and sold treasures at garage sales all around the Ranch, and the City of Mesa dumpsters at Los Altos were filled with tons of landfill material and green waste. While all that was taking place, boxfuls of documents were being shredded at the Saratoga Rec Center. The next clean-up will be October 14, 2017, so watch for details in upcoming issues of the Ranchers’ Roundup and on dobsonranch.com.

A popular new edition was added this year‌ a ladybug release! The kids had a great time making lady bug crafts watching the ladybugs go right to work to keep the nearby plants bug free. Thanks to SRP and A&P Nursery for the donation of 8,000 ladybugs, and to the Dobson Ranch Library for the jars.

The Expo was held in conjunction with the Pancake Breakfast hosted by the Dobson Ranch Retirees Club. The Dobson Ranch Retirees sure know how to cook a great meal and this past pancake breakfast was no exception! Entertainment at breakfast was provided by the Harmony Rain Singers. It was a great morning!

New superheroes have been spotted in Dobson Ranch: Ladybugs! Children and flowers in front of La Casita Recreation Center were covered with ladybugs at the Water Management Committee’s annual Spring Expo on March 25. Nearly eight thousand ladybugs were released to fight the villains, dreaded pest insects.

Ladybugs aren’t bugs. They are actually beetles, and they aren’t all ladies; males are “ladybugs,” too! There are over 4,300 kinds of ladybugs in in the world. According to The University of ArizonaMaster Gardener Cooperative Extension, the most common species found in Arizona is the convergent lady beetle, Hippodamia convergens, named for the two converging white stripes on the back of its thorax. These lady beetles, or ladybugs as we know them, are a beneficial insect to the low desert. Ladybugs eat soft-bodied insects, including mealybugs, mites, and especially aphids, the enemy pest insects that cause unsightly damage to plants. The ladybugs released at La Casita will provide natural pest control. In fact, ladybugs are one of the best organic ways to manage pests.

Just like transformers, all ladybugs change their shape. Young ladybugs look like tiny dragons before they change to adults and are able to fly. The red and orange superhero colors warn animals and other insects that eating a ladybug is not a good choice. Moreover, they can have toxic effects on some animals and use a foul odor as a secret weapon. The good news for us, ladybugs do not sting and are not poisonous to humans. On Saturday morning, after trying to imitate the ladybug’s flying wing beat of 85 times per second, children were tickled by ladybugs as they filled see-through jars and released them on La Casita’s rosebushes and flowers. Some even took the ladybugs home to release in their own backyards.

To attract these superheroes to your yard, plant chives, cilantro, marigolds, sweet alyssum, and other ladybug favorites (Mother Nature Network-mnn.com). Do not apply insecticides, because these can kill ladybugs and other beneficial insects, in addition to the pests. Have no fear of a small pest population, because pest insects are the superhero’s dinner.

Summer is almost is here, or at least it feels that way!

Come and enjoy all of the amenities that Dobson Ranch has to offer. We have pools, a splash pad, parks and tennis courts to enjoy this season. We also have some new and exciting events and programs coming up soon. In May we have our fourth annual Cerveza Run starting and ending at Los Altos on Saturday, May 6th at 4pm.

Check in for the run will be at Los Altos again this year. Please register prior to the event, no registrations will be allowed the day of the event. There will be a mariachi band, piñatas and fun for all ages. For more details see the flyer or call La Casita Recreation Center. Don’t forget about the outstanding Summer Kids Camp at La Casita. We have lots of options this year. There will be the choice of full or half days, weekly and 5 week or 10 week session options. See the flyer for more details. Last but not least, mark your calendar for Flick and Float at Los Altos on June 2nd at (sunset) about 7:30 pm. Bring your swim suits and a tube to enjoy watching the movie “Moana” in the pool.

Movie in the Park Dobson Ranch residents covered Laguna Park with lawn chairs and blankets at the recent showing of the movie Secret Life of Pets. Hot dogs, nachos and cold water were provided by our Ranchers’ Roundup publisher, Valhalla Community Magazines. Popcorn was handed out by the recreation department and the weather was perfect. We will have another movie event June 2nd at Los Altos Pool. Wear your swimsuits and bring your floaties for that one. The typical land-based Zumba dance steps, such as cha-cha, merengue, salsa, reggaeton, and mambo, are exaggerated and slower in water, so the water tempo is half the land tempo, creating a low-impact work out for all fitness levels. There is less impact on your joints during an Aqua Zumba class so you can really let loose. Water creates natural resistance, which means every step is more challenging and helps tone your muscles. Dobson Ranch Pontoon Tour/Ride Info Sit back, relax and take in the beauty of a Dobson Ranch lake on a pontoon ride! Tour fee is $35 per hour with a two hour maximum. Reservations are available through the Recreation Department and require a 7 day minimum notice and are subject to weather and availability.

Other rules and restrictions will apply. Don’t forget… a FREE one hour pontoon ride per year per property is available for you to enjoy! Call 480831-7464 for more information.

Table and Chair Rentals Make your next at home event great with the convenience of renting tables and chairs right in your community. The Dobson Association not only rents out facilities for private rentals but renting of chairs and tables not held on a ranch facility are also available. We can accommodate a rental up to 140 metal framed folding chairs and 15 rectangle 6 foot by 3 foot tables. The resident must schedule to pick up and drop off the chairs and tables at La Casita Recreation Center.

A refundable security deposit of $50 minimum is due in cash or credit card payment to hold your reservation. The rental cost per chair is $0.50 and $5 per table. If a rental request is within 10 business days there will be an expedited fee 2 times the rental amount. Reservations can be made at the La Casita Recreation Center and include a 14 day cancellation policy.

Dobson Ranch HOA Recreation Department Saratoga Recreation Center 2345 S. Saratoga $30 resident, $37 Swim Lessons non-resident per session Monday-Thursday Evening Classes CLASSES Parent & Tot: Designed for 6 to 36 months old. With parent participation the child will learn the comfort of water, while having fun. Class features include: water adjustment, safety skills, blowing bubbles, and holding technique. One child per adult.

Tadpole: Designed for 3 to 5 years old. Child must be potty trained and can be separated from the parent. Children learn independently entering and exiting the pool, self-submerging, opening of eyes to retrieve objects, ability to float, kick and glide.

Frog: Designed for 4 to 8 years old.

Children learn to enter water by jumping from the side of the pool, independently floating on front and back, changing direction while on front and back, and combining legs with arms action.

Starfish: Designed for children who have completed all above levels at Dobson Ranch. This class emphasis is on improving the swimmers ability to front-back to back-front rollover method.

Introducing freestyle, backstroke and endurance to swim one width of the pool.

All Classes are 30 minutes each 8 days in each session. Classes have a minimum of 3 children with a maximum of 4. Instructor will assess the child’s level on first day.

There was a great crowd at the recent 21 and over Dobson Ranch BYOB event.

Admission to the event included one bottle of red wine or chilled white wine or a 6 pack or growler of beer. Residents and their guests came out to enjoy the live music by Notes from Neptune, socialize, play corn hole, dance a little and participate in the blind taste test of the various spirits, which were covered in brown lunch bags and numbered.

After sampling the drinks, tasters jotted down the number of their favorite bottle, and at the end of the night, prizes were handed out.

The recreation staff works hard to provide great activities and events for all ages. Keep reading the Ranchers’ Roundup each month and don’t miss a single fun filled event!

Dobson Dolphins Registration Coming Soon 36 years in Dobson Ranch and still splashing!

Registration for the 2017 summer season of the Dobson Dolphins will open May 13.

Registrations will remain open until all levels reach capacity. There are three easy ways to register this season: 1) In-person on May 13 at La Casita, 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Team suits and swim gear will be available to purchase. Coaches will be there to meet and greet! 2) Pick up registration forms at La Casita and mail in to registrar 3)Download registration form from dobsondolphins.com and mail in to registrar. Swim team fees are due upon registration. The season begins May 31.

About Us The Dobson Dolphins Swim Team is open to children age 5 through 17 who live in or around the Dobson Ranch area. Practices are held four days a week during the summer months at the Dobson Ranch Los Altos Recreation Center Junior Olympic pool. The team participates in various local competitions and championships. There is a charge for membership.

Spring Break Camp There was never a dull moment at the Dobson Ranch 2017 Spring Break Camp. The kids, off from school for a week, got to play games, craft, dance, make friends and go on a field trip.

“The Heat” is coming to DR Pickleball!!

Our Valentine’s Day Tournament, as previously reported, was a huge success. Perhaps the photography lacked something from a professional standpoint, but we wish to share the only surviving photo of the entire group (except for three who are under the thumb of the photographer, who shall remain nameless!) Too see other “bloopers” from the great DR pickleball experience you must be present in person to appreciate the camaraderie, fun and fitness experienced at our Los Altos courts!

The heat has already been felt on the courts in mid-March and we eagerly anticipate the decision of the Commissioner’s office to move to summer hours, starting at 7 am, before too much longer. Watch your emails, and join our email list if you have not already, to find out the latest news on start times and other critical developments!!

Our last tournament before fall brings cooler temps will be, appropriately, on April Fool’s Day! A final report on the outcome will be in your next Roundup!!

For now, our drop-in play hours remain at 8 am, Monday, Thursday and Saturday, and night play Tuesday evenings at 6:30 pm. Additional hours are available on Monday and Thursday evenings at 7 pm, which have an orientation towards beginning to intermediate players, but all are welcome.

Beginners are always welcome during group play and will receive basic instruction from regular participants and use of members extra paddles while getting introduced to the sport. Please wear appropriate court shoes, and be sure to bring enough water and sunscreen to insure a safe and healthy visit.

Remember, these courts are provided by the Dobson Association for members and their guests, and playing time is not limited to our published group-play hours. Another great benefit of homeownership in Dobson Ranch!

2017 Boat Permits and Fishing Licenses on Sale Now

The weather is perfect for outdoor activities, like fishing and boating at one of the beautiful lakes at PLE Dobson Ranch. Fishing licenses are required (catch EXAM and release only) and boat permits are required for all watercraft (size restrictions apply). Licenses and Permits may be purchased at La Casita, 2719 South Reyes. Boat Licenses are $35 per motorized boat (electric motors only) and $15 for nonmotorized boats and a maximum of 3 permits. Fishing Licenses are $13 for an individual and $30 for a family (up to four). Children 7 years and up require a license. For more information, please call the recreation department at 480-831-7464.

The Heat Is On!

Living in Phoenix, we have grown accustomed to the intensely hot summer weather, but on the tennis court it can be a new level of heat. The heat-trapping surface of tennis courts can leave at tennis player sapped of energy, and feeling just downright sick. In fact, tennis courts are 15 to 20 degrees hotter than the air temperature. That means when it is 110 degrees outside, it can be as much as 130 degrees on the tennis court! So, what can we do to enjoy the sport we love while dealing with this intense heat? Here are a few tips.

First, drink plenty of water. I know this seems obvious, but most tennis players think drinking water during play is enough. Be sure to hydrate before you play and refuel after you play. Next, try to play early in the mornings. While sleeping in during the lazy days of summer is tempting, by hitting the courts early you can enjoy milder temperatures. If your day allows, you could even enjoy a nice nap during the peak heat, and allow your body to recover. Finally, be sure to pack some snacks when you hit the courts this summer, such as fruit or an energy bar. When playing tennis for extended periods of time under hot conditions, water may not be enough. A quick bite to eat can keep you on the court and hitting at a high level.

Don’t let the summer prevent you from enjoying the sport we love. Try these few simple tips, and beat the heat on and off the courts.

It is April and time is flying by, the weather is warming up and soon we will be complaining about the heat instead of the cold and rain. It was a cool winter this year, a lot of us felt it in our bones. But let’s hope that April showers bring May flowers, although many of us have them blooming already, so much for Midwest theories.

The club is off to a great start with our meetings in full swing. At our January general meeting we had a great speaker, Frank Mizner, he informed us of many upgrades and improvements that are being considered around the Ranch, we also had some really great soups and February, our speaker was a representative from the I.D.E.A. Museum, which is a children’s museum that inspires children of all ages to explore and imagine then, for lunch we had pulled pork, thank you to all the men (and the women that back them)for a great meal. April gave us our own Lynn Stevens and her tap dancing group. What a great job! Followed by another great meal of port tenderloins, thank you Diana and crew. Connie has some great lunch plans for us and all her help is doing a great job. I am not going to mention names but you know who you are, keep up the good work.

We had a good turnout for the dedication of Frisbee Park to Dennis Kavanaugh Park, it was a beautiful day for the ribbon cutting. And if you have not visited the wonderful park behind the library, do go. It is a great place for kids of all ages and abilities! Dobson Ranch and the city of Mesa should be very proud.

As you can see we have a lot of stuff going on to help keep us involved and informed about this great community to live in. Also, don’t forget to mark your calendar for April 28th for the Retirees appreciation dance, it will be a sock hop with food and drinks, all members are invited!

On a personal note, I would like to thank Frank Saavedra for his help with this article last month, I really appreciated it!

Dobson Pavement Pounders Do you want to start running, find some friends to walk with or train for an endurance run? Then it’s time to tackle your fitness goals with your friendly neighbors.

The Dobson Pavement Pounders promotes running, walking and friendships in the Dobson Ranch and surrounding neighborhoods.

Whether you are a recreational walker, novice runner or advanced marathoner, this club offers support, weekly meetings and fellowship, afterwards, to keep you motivated and moving.

Currently, we meet in the Parking lot of Bisbee Breakfast Club at 7 a.m. Saturday and 7 p.m. Wednesday. The location is on the corner of Guadalupe and Dobson at 2909 S. Dobson Rd. On Saturdays, we enjoy coffee at Bisbee’s after finishing our routes. Wednesday evenings we relax with refreshments, or adult beverages, at Cornish Pasty. No matter your level, come out and join us.

The Garden Club, which does not meet during June, July, August and September, will share appetizers and float on pontoon boats. All who wish to participate should meet at the Saratoga Recreation Center dock at 6:00 p.m. Please bring an appetizer to share and a beverage of your choice.

Fish Club

Because the writing of this article precedes the Roundup’s issue usually by 3 weeks or so, things in nature can and do change quickly! By the time you see this article in mid- April, our lake temperatures will be over 80 degrees and the adult game fish will be shifted from the spawn to guarding fry, as well as feeding more heavily as they regroup from the rigors of the spawn. If you carefully look along the shoreline, you may see tightly bound balls of small bass fry. In the shadows, you will see a single bass lurking. That is the male bass that protects the fry, until the fry are big enough to scatter. And their scatter is prompted by the male bass which decides he may just want to eat the very fry he had been protecting.

The fry then fend for themselves. No one said that nature is fair. We had a great spawn in our lakes this year, evidenced by the number of fry balls observed. This is a result of water quality maintenance as well as stocking of a firm forage base including minnows and small bluegill and redear sunfish by our Association. We also stock white amur (grass carp) for weed maintenance. Post spawn fishing sometimes represents the best fishing experience. Fish are hungry, water temperatures are optimal in relation to their energy level, and small bait fish abound. So fishing with everything from topwater to reaction baits like crankbaits as well as a variety of plastics will work.

Our Dobson Ranch HOA is sponsoring the third Annual Adult Fishing Tournament on April 29. It is for ages 12 and older, and will be held at Lake 1. Categories include both shore as well as boat fishermen, and ages 12-18 and 18+. Fishermen must be Dobson Ranch residents, and each will be required to have and wear a Dobson Ranch Permit, which can be acquired at La Casita Rec Center. This is a free event with really nice prizes for top places in all categories. We received an additional sponsorship from Scott’s Appliance Service- 480-823-6402. They are the best! The top contenders of concern are: • Lillies- Potentially fatal, without immediate critical care veterinary assistance, the chances of survival are low.

• Chocolate- Although dark chocolate and baker’s chocolate are most dangerous, milk and white chocolate still pose a serious risk. NO amount of chocolate is okay for your pet to eat.

• Xylitol- The sugar substitute can cause hypoglycemia, seizures or even liver failure.

• Easter Grass- This stringy, colorful plastic grass can potentially cause an intestinal blockage which would require emergency abdominal surgery.

• Easter Eggs- If a hard-boiled egg is never found during the hunt and left to spoil it can cause severe stomach upset or pancreatitis if eaten. A plastic egg can be easily chewed or swallowed, potentially causing a choking hazard or blockage.

Local parks make Mesa a better place to live and shape so many of our lives. That’s why residents will have the opportunity from now through April 30 to nominate Mesa to receive $20,000 in grant funding to make improvements at a City park.

As part of Earth Month, the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) is collaborating with The Walt Disney Company, including Disney Citizenship, Disney/ABC Television Group and ESPN, to revitalize parks across the U.S. for a third year. The city that receives the most nominations during the “Meet Me at the Park” campaign will receive a $20,000 grant to improve a local park.

Afghan Hound Club Hosts Event at Laguna Park The Afghan Hound Club of Greater Phoenix is pleased to announce a “Meet our Breed” at Laguna Park, April 29, 2017, from 9am to 1pm.

This is a fun activity for families and a perfect place to talk to the breed experts about grooming; training and the right breed for your lifestyle. There will be a grooming demonstration, professional photo booth, and performance demonstrations.

The club wants to encourage folks to learn about the dog show world, dog performance competitions and become involved with the club.
