Micheldever School News for November

What a successful and busy start to the academic year we have had at Micheldever C of E Primary School. Our children have, once again, been a wonderful representation of the school and have thoroughly enjoyed getting stuck into their learning. As a whole school, we celebrated our sponsored reading week to raise money for new reading books for the school. Thank you to everyone who took part and everyone who helped raise money.

A highlight for us as a school this term has been the Harvest Festival Celebration. Our children in Years R, 1 and 2 did a superb job of leading us in celebrating the harvest this year. We saw incredible artwork from children across the school (which I hope was enjoyed by those of you who attending St Mary’s for the church’s Harvest celebration), heard a poem read by our Year 2 children and once again were able to enjoy the sound of children’s singing filling the hall – we have certainly missed it! Our next service will be our Remembrance service, which will be led by our Year 3/4 class.

Our classes have been very busy indeed. Year 5/6 have been getting stuck into learning about the renaissance, have researched key historical figures as they consider the question ‘Can Curiosity Change Our World?’ Year 3/4 have been learning about the stone age through to the iron age and have enjoyed a trip to St Catherine’s Hill, have an ‘Iron Age Workshop’ coming up soon and have managed to successfully complete 6 weeks of swimming. Year 1/2 children have made sea biscuits as we learn about Christopher Columbus and Year R/1 pupils have settled so well into school life as they are beginning to read and write.

It was lovely to welcome so many families for a visit to our school on our open morning. We really hope you enjoyed looking around the school and got an understanding of what it would be like for your child at the school. If you were unable to attend this one and you would like to visit our school for your child starting in Year R in 2022/23, we have another open morning on 29th November at 9:30 and you would be very welcome to attend. Please be in contact with the school admin office on adminoffice@micheldever.hants.sch.uk or 01962 774213 to book your place. Mr T. Johnston, Headteacher,
