A Majestic return for Micheldever Wine Circle

Along with other village events that had been postponed since last year, we were finally able to reconvene for our first Wine Circle to be held in the Northbrook Hall since 31st of January 2020!

A great turn out of villagers enjoyed an informative and fun presentation from Chloe Turner. She is the manager of the recently refurbished Majestic Wine Store in Winchester, which now is spacious and airy with new tasting areas and a fine wines section.

Chloe took us on a “Call my Wine Bluff" adventure.

This involved each table of guests having to discuss and choose which of two descriptions of each wine was the correct one.

We took a journey which began with an Italian Pinot, then a white Cotes de Rhone and opinion was divided (as usual) by a Chilean Chardonnay which was given a possible alter ego of a white Rioja!

The red wines began in France with a Beaujolais, then headed south to Spain for a Rioja Reserva and finished with an Argentinian Malbec.

By this point our discussion and reasoning had perhaps lost some of its finer points (!) but the wines and the “Bluff” were enjoyed never the less!

Throughout Chloe displayed a really thorough and comprehensive knowledge which really impressed us all.

It really felt like quite a special evening!.

Being able to gather again after such a long time and to have the opportunity to meet some of our new villagers was wonderful.

Please join us to learn a little more about wine, to meet up with friends and make new acquaintances, to share a cheese board to have an evening of good fun!

Look out for our notices in the Dever or email us at thewinecircle@gmail.com for more information or to be added to our email list. DMA
