Police Involved Shooting ***UPDATE*** Reference MA# 03-2018 The investigation into the police involved shooting, which occurred on January 12, 2018, continues. The suspect has been identified as 22 year old Amanuel Dagebo, male black, of Columbus, Ohio.
Robbery Suspect Killed in Police Involved Shooting Columbus Police are investigating an early evening shooting involving two Columbus Police officers and a robbery suspect with an active arrest warrant. On January 12, 2018, at approximately 5:10pm, two plain clothes officers were patrolling the area of Comstock Road and Lisbon Drive looking for a suspect who was wanted for Aggravated Robbery. The officers located the suspect inside a vehicle and approached him to take him into custody. At some point during the encounter, the officers fired striking the suspect. The suspect was pronounced at the scene by Columbus Fire at 5:23pm. A gun was recovered at the scene near the vehicle in which the suspect had been found. Columbus Police are awaiting the notification of the suspect’s next of kin before releasing their name. This is the first police involved shooting in Columbus in 2018. As in all police involved shootings, the involved officer(s) will receive mandated psychological support counseling. Officers are also afforded an opportunity to take leave
