One of the most essential skills any tennis player can develop is the ability to quickly and accurately analyze their opponent. Whether you're facing someone you regularly compete with or a completely new player, being able to assess your opponent from the moment the warm-up begins can provide you with a significant edge. The key to early analysis is to identify both their strengths and weaknesses, allowing you to craft a strategy that targets their vulnerabilities throughout the match
Start by observing general aspects of your opponent’s game. In both singles and doubles, try hitting your shots down the middle to see if your opponent has a clear preference for one side. For instance, do they frequently run around their backhand? Pay close attention to the strokes they focus on during the warm-up players often spend more time on their strengths while neglecting their weaker shots. During volleys, take note of their positioning and the level of aggression they use when returning the ball. Finally, examine their serve. Are they trying to hit it with power or do they focus more on in specific
